We arrived late in Assisi and found there was a major festival in progress so rooms were at a premium. After some searching we were referred to Hotel Santa Maria. It is a modest hotel near Basilica Santa Maria degli Angeli, down from central Assisi. We were warmly greeted by the owners. The room was not large, but did accommodate the three of our party. The beds were very comfortable. The bathroom and shower were very good, The breakfast was satisfying and well presented. There is parking at the property. The cost was very reasonable. When coming back to the Assisi area, we will consider staying at this property to enjoy the welcoming atmosphere.
