Tartaruga is a place of serenity in a crazy world. The lush setting with each tented lodge enjoying it's own spot of the natural bush makes for a very peaceful stay. The tented lodges themselves are very comfortable and well looked after - one can lie in the middle of the bush in absolute luxury. A bonus point is the close proximity to the beautiful beach and bay where whales and dolphins are often seen. All in all, it was a great and restful stay.

We recently spent a week at Tartaruga with family from Netherlands and the UK.  The camp itself is situated in the dune forest just off the beach at Ponta Malongane.  The luxury en-suite tents were beautiful and very comfortable, and the were serviced every morning by the very friendly staff.  As for the beach and the sea, you could not really ask for more.  Lovely deserted sandy beach that stretches for kilometres in both directions and clear 25°C Indian ocean water!  We had daily shows from the dolphins just behind the breakers and some of our party took a boat trip to swim with them.  

The communal area/kitchen is very well equipped and sits on top of the dune with a view across the whole bay. Even when it rained we spent the day there and enjoyed the splendid view.  

If you want to eat out, there are a number of typically Mozambican open air restaurants where you can eat superb seafood for what the European visitors regarded as peanuts!  

The only schlepp of the whole holiday is getting there.  Driving through Jozini and Manguzi on the south African side is a nightmare and it can easily turn the best-laid plans to mush, so add at least an extra hour to your travel time just to get through those two towns!

We visited during the December holiday of 2017, it was quiet, easy to find, the people were incredibly friendly and always willing to help! 
Tartaruga is close to the beach, it’s close to the dive centre, and there are restaurants all around just outside the gate! The rooms were beautifully kept, the provided towels and mosquito nets make life so much easier than bringing your own. 
There is a storeroom provided to keep beach and dive equipment! 
Overall, what an incredible place!

Very nice place at the Ponta Malongane’s beach. Tents are secluted inside the bush and well equipped. Very comfortable and quiet. Had a very  well slept night. It is a self-catering place, with a very well equipped common kitchen and agreeable common living room. Staff is vrey friendly and helpful. Security is tight.
If you seat at the deck of your tent you might be visited by friendly small monkeys.
The beach is marvelous, although we picked some plastic garbage from the sand. In the right time you might get lucky and watch turtles coming ashore or the little ones going to sea.
I recommend it for couples or small families (the bigger tents).

We enjoyed our stay at Tartaruga Maritima, not only for the fantastic setting and very good accommodation facilities, but also for the great hospitality and service by the staff. Moses made sure that we were always looked after, and manager Herman offered us valuable friendly advice and always ready transportation services. The only negative was to notice that, as time passes on, the place is showing sings of needing greater tender loving care and some renovations.
