Family Peace guesthouse is a great base to call home just outside of Thamel. The rooms are very basic, but are clean and have good amenities including hot water and a good laundry service. But the real USP is the friendliness and helpful nature of Bimal, Hemraj and the team who run it, as they go out of their way to make sure you have a good time, and have access to the best that Kathmandu has to offer. Their advice on where to go, what to do, and the support in making this happen through booking taxis or advising on entry costs etc helped make this an incredible trip for me. Don't expect luxury when going to Family Peace House, but expect an affordable home away from home.
