This hotel is excellent. The dinner dishes were delicious and the room was nice. View in the river and mountains was amazing. Staff was very friendly.We had to dry our clothes because we hiked the Pupil Rock in heavy rain. The staff was nice to show us how to use the drier and gave us a token for free :)

We stopped for one night on our way between Oslo and Stavanger as it wasn't too far from Kjerag; absolutely beautiful place with loads of walks and things to do locally - wish we could have stayed longer!

Wonderful location and surroundings. Quiet and peaceful. Room was great, comfy beds and had a good night's sleep. Good parking (we were on a motorbike and parked directly out the front of the building). Evening meal was excellent. Breakfast was also superb - lots of choice and really good quality. Only stayed for one night as we were passing through, but would have been  happy to stay longer. Staff all friendly and welcoming.

It’s so beautiful here. Our beds were very comfortable. Just walking into the entrance downstairs and you feel the warmth and comfortableness.

A hidden gem. Such a cute and original small hotel. Wonderful staff and the food was delicious.

We had a brief stop for a late lunch in the restaurant on a Sunday, and are super happy with the quality and presentation of the food. Top notch local ingredients, traditional dishes with a modern twist and friendly and efficient service. Reasonable prices, regarding the high quality. Lamb, trout, game. Warmly recommended!

Sølvgården is a safe bet. The rooms are basic but clean, the beds are good and is a kettle and tea and coffee in the room. The restaurant is nice, the food is good and so is the breakfast. Staff is friendly.
The surrondings are spectacular as well.

Stop off on the way to Kristiansand. Stayed in a cabin with it's own kitchen and bathroom. There is a little supermarket up the road to get supplies. Linens are extra. Everything was clean and well maintained. Ate in the restaurant which was good. Decent breakfast next day. No complaints.

Perfect location in a small village at the river in the middle of the grand Setesdal valley. Sølvgarden is interesting combination of tourist hotel, camping, restaurant and silversmith. The owner is renowned silversmith, a typical and highly respected trade in Setesdal. Local traditional costumes are special and easily recognised. In the restaurant guests can occasionaly meet local folk musicians, another highly developed craft in Setesdal - the local fiddlers are Norway's best and maintain the centuries old local style. The haunting sound of the hardanger fiddle is something special. Rooms are new, clean and spacious. Staff is friendly. The restaurant is spacious and comfortable with a indoor and outdoor seating. The food was good traditional rural style and partly made locally ("elg" or moose), but not top notch. Our desert (tilslørte bondepiker) was very good. Good breakfast buffet. No luxury, but good value for money in total.

Location and more

We stayed in a small basic cabin in front of the lake. The place was ok and clean. The location is marvellous and then we travelled from there to Lysebotn (the road has fantastic views). Common bathrooms are spotless, and the children bathroom is a plus, Breakfast was good (10 euro p.p.) and with good selection of food. Beware that there we found lots of pappataci that did not allow to stay long outside eating our picnic

Spent one night With the Family. Very friendly staff, clean rooms and the Family room was quite large. Missing a water boiler. The restaurant was good with traditionally menu. Tasty breakfast. Located in the valley, with high Mountains around and a river passing by. Great starting point for activities.

Perfect place for a one or 2 nights.

Great place to stay in winter for ice climbing. Could use a bit more drying space for drying wet cloths. But free wifi, and cosy setting makes up for it. A bit pricy, but we managed to get the price down by haggeling :)

the building looks old and really pretty from the outside..the room interiors are totally renovated..very modern and comfortable..good balconies..a good restaurant and service.. good breakfast..a good stay..

This is second time staying at this place with the family. Nice and clean rooms, free wifi and good service. However, our family room was missing the extra bed. The breakfast was not as good as the last time, maybe due to corona virus. 

The dinner at the restaurant was a huge disappointment. Ordered the sheep menu  and got 3-4 extremely salted thin bacon like slices, with some tasteless vegetables soup. Worst ever.
