We were stuck in Kongsvinger for a day due to confusion on train reroute for track maintenance on ticket from Oslo to Stockholm. We booked this hotel when we found out we'd be stranded for a day with the kids. Hotel was great about accommodating our 2 adult, 2 child family in one of the only 2 twin bed rooms left and added a fold out bed.

If you want to experience a unique historic hotel at the fortress this is the place. Meeting rooms in "The Slavery", a beautiful room in the "Kaserne", excellent dinig experience for lunch and dinner in a beautiful dining room, with comfortable furniture, good ambience and food to linger for. I was here on a business trip and it is well suited for that, and it is well suited for a weekend couples retreat.  If you are looking for a spa experience, this is not for you. If you like to go hiking and is not afraid of a steep hillside to get there, this is for you. The bed is so comfortable, you will sleep well here, and it is sooo quit here. How do you get here? By car, bus or by train. A good 1 1/2 hour travel from the capital of Norway, Oslo and northeast.  Beautiful view of the surroundings and the river Glomma.

Everything was amazing, helpful staff. Great breakfast.Bar menu is very limited.Lots of dogs stayed last night, got a bit noisy.

We had to change rooms. The toilet in the bathroom was dirty had not been cleaned. I complained and got another room. That room and bathroom were clean. We hope it was a one time mistake.

Unique experience at the Kongsvinger Fortress

Great experience 

We Stayed here one night with the family to have a relaxing night on out long drive norh. The exteriour lookes good. Also the lobby, but the rest was seriously outdated and warn. In the room- the bath was renovated and looked nice. But not The rest. We had an extrabed for our son in The room but The room was Almodóvar to small to fit it, so couldn’t barely move in there. Not so happy about our stay.
