Scandic Rock City

This is the best Scandic that we’ve stayed in so far. Parking was free, right outside the hotel, which was really a nice change from most hotels in Norway. The location is excellent, right on the waterfront, just a 3-minute walk into the town center where there is plenty of shopping and eateries. We were allowed to check in a bit early since our room was ready and this was really much appreciated. Our room was very nice – average in size but clean, bright, and comfortable with a beautiful sea view. We liked the rock music motifs in the furnishings and decorations, both in the room and throughout the hotel – quite unique and memorable. The bed was comfortable and since we could sleep with the window wide open (no outside noise at all!) we had a great sleep. The mini-fridge worked very well as did the free Wifi. Although we didn’t have an internet TV, we were at least able to mirror our laptop with the TV and watch Netflix. Otherwise, there was no English programming on the TV. The breakfast buffet was amazing – a huge variety of high quality hot and cold dishes – everything you could ever want in a breakfast. There was plenty of seating as well – a nice experience. Although there was no gym at the hotel, they provide complimentary access to an excellent local commercial gym (X Fitness) which is a 5-minute walk away in the town center. You’ll definitely be able to get a good workout there! Overall, we had an excellent stay and would highly recommend this hotel to other travelers.
