Great place with beautiful surroundings. Friendly staff in a well maintained old trading post. You can rent electric bikes at the shop and explore all the trails in the mountain. There is also a museum with pictures from Annie Giaever that are amazing. Takes you right back in time this place. Highly recommend!

You will see from others commentting Havness is a "hidden gem" a magical, unique, jaw dropping land of dreams in a location steeped in thousands of years of history for hunting & fishing. Our small group of four anglers stayed 11 nights at the end of July running into August. Everyone had already visited the island many times a true testament to the islands fishing magnetism.

Transfer - as always a very professional affair with a driver waiting at Tromso for the 2.5hr scenic journey to Havnnes. They have now invested in an electric mini bus.

Hosts - upon arrival Hege and Torval contacted to say we could use the bedrooms before our official check in. This was very welcomed allowed us to get some much needed sleep following our 20 hour journey from the UK via car, coach, plane, plane, minibus and boat.

Accomodation - we have stayed in various houses over the years all 5 star, on this occasion our fishing base was Mesa 1. This property contained 3 bed rooms (sleeps 5), toliet/shower room, open plan lounge/kitchen and a bonus dry room in the basement. Equipped with oven, fridge, dish washer, electric kettle, coffee maker and microwave. High speed internet and now an upgraded TV package so you can sign into things like Netflix. Breathtaking view looking across to the Lyngen mountains. Also you have access to large walk in fridge, blast freezer, vaccum packing machine & filleting room.

Fishing - Cod( over 40lb) Coalfish (over 30lb) & Halibut (over 100lb) are the main draw here, however, there are other species to target Redfish, Dab, Plaice, Wolffish, Whiting, Haddock, Ling, Monkfish, Tusk etc.

Wildlife - Moose, Arctic Fox, Sea Otters, Reindeer, Whales, Porpoises & then the amazing birdlife White Tailed Sea Eagles swooping down and taking fish, Guillimots, Ducks, Storm Petrols, Fulmar, Arctic Terns & Puffin gorging on bait fish making them so overweight they struggle to take off.

Scenery - breath taking, jaw dropping mountains, waterfalls and fjords so much so l can never sleep on the transfer over.

Conclusion - book it and enjoy you wont regret it.

Havnnes is a place where history, nature and hospitality makes you wonder why it took you so long to visit it. It's a place where you find yourself saying "wow!" a lot. The clear water. The snow-covered mountains. The fish you get. The fish you eat. The beer you drink at 2 am when the midnight sun makes the whole island golden. The smell of salt and 200 tons of dried fish that hangs outside your bedroom window. The history of the place where people have been fishing and hunting for 6000 years.
We arrived a sunny day in June, greeted by Hege and Thorvald, probably the nicest people in the world. We miss both them and Havnnes already. But as the great poet Arnold Scwarzenegger once said: I'll be back.

Myself and a few friends have just returned from our 11th yearly visit to this stunningly beautiful place . Returning this many times is a  testimony to how amazing Havness Handelssted is . No amount of glowing reviews will ever be able to truly describe the true feeling of this beautiful settlement on the stunning island of Uløya . 
Traveling to Havnnes is an awe inspiring adventure in its own right and when you arrive you can be  guaranteed  The warmest welcome by your hosts . Hege and her family are on hand to make your stay a memorable one and if there’s a problem whether it is small or large Hege will fix it . It’s quite remarkable how she can unravel a problem and fix it . I first visited in 2008 on a one off fishing trip and I’ve been drawn back ever since . Not just for the fishing I might add . The scenery , atmosphere , history and sheer beauty of the place is captivating of the heart body and soul. It’s an arctic paradise, it’s a hidden diamond, it’s a beautiful wild wilderness and lots more  . It’s a place you need to experience even if just once , but beware you will want to return again and again

Havnnes is a great location, a heritage Norwegian trading post run by the wonderful Hege, for whom nothing is too much trouble and whose handover briefing was the best I’ve ever had, for two hours at 11pm! The accommodation is of a good standard, well above average for fishing camps and the complex as a whole is a treat to stay in. For fisher people there is full use of the filleting, vacuum packing and freezer facilities in the fish factory on site, which makes a huge difference to bringing fillets home. The boats are spotless and very suitable for up to four anglers. As for the scenery, simply breathtaking with two fjords to play in, surrounded by snow capped mountains. Saw Sea Eagles, puffins, seals and dolphins. The fishing required some skill but plenty were caught including a 34lb cod and 28lb Ling. We had around 50 keeper Cod in all. We will definitely be returning.

Little town located on an island. The staff was very very kind and far more welcoming than anyone could ever expect (like she had booked activities for us, phoned the ferry for us and send what we forgot in the house when we asked her to do). We booked the "Mary house" but we were assigned to the "Per Arne house", which was actually better (and more expensive), because there weren't anyone else on the island... and we didn't pay NOTHING more for that! The house was beautiful and good furnished, although dishes, pots and pans weren't so clear... anyway there was a dishwasher so no problem. We enjoyed so much the time here (we saw the northern lights too), everything was perfect! We strongly recommend the stay in Havnnes!

A small village that is set in a beautiful location. The people are so friendly and welcoming. Whether your fishing or touring, Havnes is definitely worth a visit. Don't miss the little shop, it's quite a surprise :)

The only way to see this island is by ferry which comes three times a day just northeast of Djupvik but the small town of about 8 buildings is home to a VERY busy fish house which sends its dried fish all over the world.  I have NEVER seen dried fish before so this was a unique experience for me and my family.  We also took a hike on the west coast of the island and found cave paintings dating to 1500BC!  The small town also has a small museum where you can see pictures and items from EIGHT generations of the same family that has owned the business on the island.  Apparently, during the winter the total population is about 25!  Very cool place if you have about 2-3 hours!
