Really excellent food, good service and attention to detail. DNT operate a number of lodges on Hardangervidda for walkers and skiers. Kalhovd exceeded all expectations and other experiences we've had this week of skiing from cabin to cabin. I'm definitely coming again.

Vi overnattet en natt etter å ha gått noen dager på Hardangervidda. Hytta var overbefolket denne kvelden og de ansatte hadde svært mye å gjøre - men likevel var stemningen svært god. 

We stayed there one night after walking on Hardangervidda a few days. The cabin where full of people everywhere - and the staff had a lot to do. But it was a great friendly atmosphere. 

The staff was super-friendly and helpful - and you could sense that people really enjoyed   


Me and a friend where riding bikes from Rjukan to Kalhovd and stopped at Kalhovd Turisthytte. We was welcomed by a very friendly staff and ordered Pizza, Rømmegrøt and couple of beers. Surprisingly good variation of beer and drinks. They had fired up the fireplace so it was nice and warm inside. The food was proper home made and tasted excellent! The woman behind the desk was very polite and even helped us recharging one of our battery's on the ebike. Everything was just really cozy and great, next time i will defiantly stay over for a night and use this place as a base to explore more of Hardangervidda.

Overall good quality tourist cabin with everything you need.

Since this cabin is easily accessible with car it opens up for everyone to come visit. The positive side is that it holds a good standard (electricity 24/7 etc.), and the negative side  may be that you dont get a 100% mountain cabin experience like you do in the cabins where you have to hike to get to.

All in all a enjoyable stay, I will recommend people stopping by this place.

Good and enough food was served!

This hotel/hostel serves excellent food. It is located on the edge of Hardangervidda and so it is a great jumping off point for hikes. It is a part of the DNT system (the Norwegian Touring Assoc). As such it's standard is not that of a luxury hotel. That said, the food is great and the hospitality.

Very impressed about the food, staff is knowledge and friendly. The site is ideal placed at the "gate" to Hardangervidda and is a great start for a exiting and all included mountain experience. We had our own room with shower and toilet and really relaxed!
