112 reviewsMy husband and I landed in Lisbon after a long flight from Canada, and right away got on the train that would take us to Sintra. This entailed taking the Metro from the airport to Oriente station, then locating the train to Sintra. It was confusing for first-timers, but not really difficult. We arrived quite early for check-in at Villa dos Poetas, but Teresa and Helen could not have been more generous and welcoming, bringing us water and giving us a comfortable place to relax while they hurried to prepare our room. The guesthouse is about a 10-minute walk uphill from the train station, and perhaps a 20-minute walk downhill to the historic centre. Other than the barking of the local dogs, it’s a quiet neighbourhood, with a couple of great restaurants only a 5-minute walk away--“Metamorphosis” was memorable! The villa is spacious, bright, and clean, as was our upstairs room. We had included breakfast in our booking, and appreciated the coffee and breakfast supplied. It was simple but adequate, and a good start to the morning. Security features for access to the property and villa were fine, and there looked to be plenty of parking for guests. Hot water in the bathroom was slow to come, and the hand shower a little awkward, but those were minor inconveniences. Overall, we loved Sintra and loved staying at Villa dos Poetas!
