Universal Hotel Complex

Love this hotel for its location :) It's only about 5 mins walk to the train station, the cable car and the happening main street. Yet, it's not by the main road; so, you are disturb by the busyness of the main street. We stayed at the new block which was what we hoped for as it's clean and quiet. However, our room was facing the main block across their function room and can be quite noisy but it didn't bother us as the function usually end by 10pm and only over the weekends. The room is clean although the beds was not made properly as they do not change the sheets during our entire stay. The soap and shampoos are in sachets and no slippers provided. Apparently only the lux rooms has. Towels provided are old. Bed firm and pillows & blanket are lumpy / old. They serve buffet breakfast staring at 8am. When we came down for breakfast at 8:20am some of the food trays were finished and they do not replenish. So, the next day were at the breakfast room at 8:05am and guess what... the room was already full and the food was almost finished. We were puzzled. The following day, we came at 7:50am and.. we were to told to wait until 8am. We realise that weekends, it is advisable to be at the breakfast room earlier as there are more guests and on weekdays, significantly fewer guests. Breakfast rating: Good to fair Staff: Mostly friendly. Overall, I enjoyed my stay at this hotel.
