Hotel Barcelona Condal Mar Affiliated by Meliá 

This is a great hotel! Yes it is 'out of town' but it is only a 10 min walk to a metro station on line 4 which takes you into the centre in no time at all. The area is not pretty but nor is it 'sketchy', we felt perfectly safe walking around there (though we weren't out late at night). Near to the beach and the Diagonal Mar shopping centre. We have a teen and a tween and chose this hotel specifically for the quadruple family room and the rooftop bar which didn't disappoint. The room on the 9th floor was huge and had a bed for each child and a separate toilet/sink in addition to the lovely main bathroom. The only downside was a lack of clothes storage space given the size of the room. There is a table with chairs, a TV, safe, hairdryer, and a mini bar too. Robes and slippers were provided also. We found the room to be very quiet. The rooftop bar and pool are fabulous. The pool is not a kids pool but is big enough for older kids and adults to have a swim in. Plenty of sun loungers and shade. The prices of wine and beer were competitive for a hotel, though cocktails were a little pricey. We ate at the rooftop bar and the food was great, especially the falafel! Pizza and patatas fritas available for the fussy tween. Every staff member we met was friendly and helpful, especially at reception and the rooftop bar. Our room was really clean but our cups were never changed and our coffee was never replenished. We had an issue with a water leak in our room and had to change rooms but it was done very efficiently and with apologies. Like so many hotels, the lifts were always busy. If we return to Barcelona we would stay here again.
