43 reviewsKaloang Home is typically one of those guesthouses that even taxi drivers will not find easily. You can find a temple and a local market with 98% locals walking around. This makes the atmosphere quite interesting and nice, since they look at you with a positive curiosity and are very helpful if you are lost and are looking for something. Furthermore, since you are not in a very touristic area, the number of people trying to cheat you is much lower, thus enabling you to peacefully take the ferry for 15 Baht per person (to e.g. the Grand Palace). Otherwise Kaloang Home is like a typical guesthouse with a good level of cleanliness and quite functional from a design perspective. What may put off some people is that since it seems like a fully Thai-run and owned place, some of the staff don’t speak English too well. However, for us this is not a problem at all as there are always solutions; the only important aspect for us is the courtesy and common respect, which we fully received here. If you want to enjoy an “alternative” place to stay vs. the thousands of foreigner-owned and touristic center-located, then this is a really good choice!
