The Krungkasem Srikrung Hotel

Hi troops. My love affair with the ' Sri-Krung' began when i first started to visit Cambodia. My initial reason for choosing the hotel was it's easy access to Hualamphong. From reception you can reach the ticket outlets in the station in under a minute. My preferred mode of transport, to the ' Aran' / Poipet border, was, and still is, by train. Dept: 5:55am & 13;00 Both of which now go to the border. There's also a 9:30 service from Hualamphong to Hau Hin Although far from being a five star venue the ' Sri-Krung' has the kind of ambiance i enjoy , the ' interesting' three tier breakfast room being an example, even though the newspaper rack and 'decorative' Gazebo have vanished. The inclusive self-service breakfast caters to both Asian/ European tastes, and includes eggs , meats, fresh fruits, cereals, breads, jams butter, juices tea and coffee. The rooms, basic but spotless, house hard mattresses, fridge, tea/coffee making facilities, great WI-FI and televisions. AND, if you choose a 'city view' one of the best vistas of Bangkok's business district one could wish for. Aside from it's location to Hualamphong Station and Bangkok's underground system, the hotel is literally on Chinatowns doorstep. Also, now the Canal running Infront of the hotel has been cleaned up, you can take a cruise on a barge ! Since my initial stay I've bunked down here on many occasions and the love affair continues Depending on who you book with, the rate is around 1,000 a night.
