Mai Khao Beach House

My wife and I stayed for two weeks at this resort in a two bedroom apartment with two friends. The location is about five minutes walk from Mai Khao beach. The resort does have some renovations ongoing at present but this couldn't detract from the superb levels of comfort and service on offer. The staff are just lovely and nothing is too much trouble and the rooms are spotlessly clean and extremely well equipped and comfortable. If you want a relaxing holiday in a tropical location look no further than this resort. The towel displays are lovely. (See photos) There are two restaurants on site both offering tasty, freshly cooked food at reasonable prices. There is also a poolside bar which is convenient but prices were on the high side. It's better to wander down the beach and find a "Bushbar" offering great sunset views across the Andaman Sea and far cheaper prices. There is no convenience store on site but right next door to the resort is the "Turtle Village" which has a small supermarket. Be warned prices are high and better value can be found at the "Tesco Lotus" north of "Sarasin Bridge." I hired a car for a week via the hotel staff and it was well worth it as it gives you the ability to shop elsewhere, eat at different restaurants and see a bit more of Thailand. I found driving reasonably easy as long as you take it slow and keep clear of Patong! Motorcycles are your biggest problem. Complimentary cycles are available on-site and there is a small lake nearby with a paved track around the perimeter which is a nice leisurely cycle route. The JW Marriott is a short walk from this resort and offers a great selection of upmarket restaurants. Prices are on the high side but you get what you pay for as the food is very good.
