Lanna Discovery Guesthouse

We were there twice. It is very clean and quiet. They serve free breakfast and free laundry service is available. 
The location is really convenient. You can reach all parts of the old city by foot in less than 15 minutes. The staff is very friendly. If your room is already available you can check in early. 

A great place to stay. We were there for Songkran festival last year and Lanna Discovery had a lovely community atmosphere and were fantastic at offering any advice for trips etc. We went on day trips with the staff, and they arranged parties for us! A great trip!

I stayed here for three weeks recently and while the three rooms I stayed in were adequate, I was very impressed with the manager of the hotel, Keevan. He is friendly, knowlegable, down to earth, and speaks Thai, English, Malaysian and Chinese! There were many Chinese speaking guests during my stay if you want an opportunity to brush up on your language skills. 
The bathrooms need a vigourous scrub with a stiff bristled brush but are at least 'mop and wipe' clean. Some mattress' are better than others. 
Wifi works in all rooms. Pretty quiet at night due to no restaurant or alcohol sales on site. Secure too. Travel agent out front. 
Worth a look if you want a reasonable private room. 



The location is good, it situates in a small street from 2 main streets, so it is quiet enough to escape from the noisy weekend, but close enough to enjoy the walking distance of convenience.
This GH is quite new, with some facilities are still adding, such as an a/c common room and computer facilities. The staff told me there will be bicycle renting soon.

There are a/c or without a/c rooms to choose, all en suite. Rooms are tidy and clean. The toilet is spacious!

The staff are warm heart, and support the hill tribes. 

I recommend it!

This is a fairly standard budget guesthouse, in a good location, close to both the Saturday and Sunday walking streets. The facilities are what you'd expect – I stayed in a twin room with ensuite, fan but no A/C for 250B (I was visiting in December 2010, and most of the time the temperature dropped low enough for comfortable sleeping at night).

The guesthouse has the usual amenities at the usual prices: it arranges tours, will sell you cold drinks, and has free wifi. The rooms were clean everywhere it counted (floors, sheets, bathroom), but slightly run down (and the walls did look a bit grubby). The beds were adequate for a decent night sleep, and it's on a quiet side street so you're not bothered by traffic noise.

The best thing about this guesthouse is definitely the staff. They were welcoming and friendly, right from the moment I arrived. This was my first stop on this trip (my first visit to Asia) and after 16 hours travelling, I probably looked a bit shell-shocked when I arrived that evening. They checked me in easily and sent me up to my room. 2 minute's later there's a tap at the door, and the lady from the front desk hands me a map, marking on it our location and a street nearby filled with western-catering restaurants, and another street with hawker stalls, and she suggested I try one of the restaurants as a easy option for dinner my first night, and try the hawker stalls the following night when I was feeling a bit more adventurous. I really appreciated the thoughtfulness. Also, at the end of my stay, when I was having some trouble with my onward transportation, one of the ladies from reception called the station and sorted it out for me. 

I really can;t say enough nice things about the ladies who work there, and that's what, in my opinion, makes this otherwise fairly ordinary guesthouse a great place to stay.
