We stayed in the new area of Panama City and used Uber to get around, the cheapest avenue. However make sure you have a dollar account (fx card) to avoid any additional fees. The old town is great with all the bars and restaurants, which we made the mistake of staying in on our final night. Music and enjoyment until late in the AM, so advise on staying in the new area and utilising UBER. Old Town has limits and beyond is the Ghetto area and our uber driver made a mistake of going down and instantly locked all doors and made sure they didnt stop. No further than CasaCasa area is advised, but a lot of police around and it feels safe. Visit the canal and make sure you use a good guide, ours was exceptional and new all about the canal and jungle. He even corrected plaques that stated spanish cannons, which were clearly british with the british stamp. 3 or 4 nights is plenty in the city and you could move on to other places with beautiful places close. Enjoy the experience
