Our family traveled Feb 2011 and did not have a good experience. 

The hotel is not set up to accomodate more than a party of two. We had to move hotel rooms twice due to faulty heat and shower accomodations, and finally settled on their so-called suite so we can have some extra room as we were staying there a week. The suite still only sleep two people. We were charged an additional fee for my 9 year old daughter and they gave her a cot to sleep on that was old and uncomfortable (not a true additional rollaway bed).  When we transferred to the suite, there were no pillows on the bed. Went down to the office and the hotel has no extra pillows!  I had to go sneak back to the old room and take some!  The suite cost $160 a night, which is absurd in this region, but we stayed since we didn't know the area well. 

We also had NO HOT WATER for over 24 hours and they didn't offer us any explanation, apology, or do anything to make up for it. 

The hotel is a two story building with a restaurant on the first floor, which transforms into a nightclub on Thurs, Fri and Sat. night.  It is obnoxiously noisy, to a point where we couldn't get to sleep on Fri/Sat till 1AM.  The hotel constantly reaks of smoke, which worsens on nightclub nights, and they allow the patrons to smoke on the stairs which went to our room. The cigarette smell is so bad that our pajamas and bath toweIls smelled like smoke in the morning.  I sent our clothes to get laundered (which was crazy expensive) and they are returned smelling like.. you guessed it... smoke.

The restaurant in the AM is in the smoking patio room only.  The breakfast they serve was adequate but dining in such a smoke filled area made breakfast unenjoyable. One day they did let us eat in the closed dining room since we walked out. The restaurant has an additional non-smoking room for lunch and dinner and has very good food. The hotel and restaurant have a few people that understand a bit of english and the menu is also in English. The wait staff was very friendly.

The wifi comes in the lobby... most of the time. In our room it was on and off. They will give you a wired connection which I never had a problem with, but wireless devices most of the time do not connect unless you are in the lobby.

If you try this hotel and you smoke, party and don't need sleep then I highly recommend it.

Not so Grand!

Remember these points are based on the fact we were there as guests in a hotel with less than 10 people staying there and was not busy I assure you.

Pros:
- Food is excellent with terrific breakfast and dinner options.
- Beautiful new building.
- Nice big washrooms with hot water.
- Inexpensive if you know how to haggle.

Cons:
- Waiting staff is extremely slow. You will be fortunate to get even the opportunity to get a second round of drinks and the first will take a minimum 25-50 minutes to arrive. 
- Internet was off for three days. After everyday hearing "Tonight it will be fixed" "Tomorrow for sure" Today we promise" we said "Have the internet running by tomorrow or we are leaving" and low and behold-internet! They said it was down because someone stole the cable supplying it which, though makes sense, does not mean they shouldn't be prepared for it.
- New towels and a new bottle of water is all the house cleaning you will get. After being there for 2 weeks my bed was turned down maybe 2 times-gross.
- The area is in a depressed economy but if you are a foreigner get ready for "price updates" on the menu and hold your breath for laundry services(Over $20 for a little bag of clothes).
- There are a few desperate animals that will come to say hi and grab a scrap on the patio which is kind of nice until you get to watch the staff hurl them over the 8ft perimeter wall-classy.
- AC in every room but they disabled it or its busted.

In short, I love this city but was not a fan of this hotel and next time will have a look somewhere else to stay.
