This place is very well located. You can take taxis and uber to the most important places like Big Ben or Picadilly Circus. The room did not have AC, but their friendly staffs provided some fans to help with the hot weather. Is definitely not a fancy place to stay, but it is very kids and family friendly. At the end, we used just to sleep/ rest, and that was perfect because our plan was to spend a lot of time knowing places! I traveled with my 8 years old son, and highly recommend this place!

Stayed at this hotel not once but twice in the same week as I went to Amsterdam in the middle of a stay. Would recommend if you are budgeting and just want a place to sleep. Workers are nice and helpful. Plenty of things to do around the area! (food, shopping, exploring)

This is a budget hotel.  The facilities were very clean and the staff friendly, helpful and happy even though it was New Years Eve and they were working.

The location is perfect and close to everything. The staff was very polite and helpful, room was clean and quiet-no traffic. Would recommend this for everyone looking for a hotel that is central but also cheap.

Pleasant swift reception check in and professionally welcoming. I requested a quiet room beforehand and was given Room 23 on the top floor, was delighted that we had a double and a single bed I paid for twin beds. Clean crisp bedding and towels comfortable beds large sash windows to open. The central heating was on constant for the stay which was welcoming with the November chill. The room fulfilled our basic needs just somewhere to crash after our amazing visit to the Moulin Rouge show at The Piccadilly. Affluent street location with restaurants and coffee shop and a 7 minute walk from Holborn Tube Station which was great for our Sunday visit to Camden Market and Locks. Would stay again a basic no frills yet comfortable stay in London.

The Lonsdale Hotel

No frills london stay for the Moulin Rouge show.

Very good for what it is, cheap and cheerful. Great location for very low price. We had clean sheets, hot water and a warm room. Quiet street, good nights sleep. Ideally located very close to Holborn Station, Bloomsbury Gardens. Good shops in the high street and restaurants. Not the Ritz but not Ritz prices!

Cheap and Cheerful

Officious and unfriendly staff - dropped in for a pint with my son while we waited for a takeaway. Very rude staff berated me for taking a table and that no children wear allowed when there was almost no visible signage outside saying that we had to be seated or anything about their family policy. Plenty of better places around in jesmond so best avoided. Have been here many times over the years but not any more.

Pretty disappointing

Pros:
- Comfortable bed
-15 minutes from Euston by foot
- 5 minutes to Underground, buses closer still
- Very close to the British Museum and beautiful parks/squares

Cons:
- Very unappealing rooms; they look like they may get a slap of paint every couple of years (only over blemishes, the wrong colour paint seems to be used for this). Hangers in the wardrobe (if you get one) are too floppy to hold a coat. Bottom of drawer has fallen through and is unusable to store socks. My balcony door (actually a slide-up window) cannot be locked, so either of my neighbours on either side could easily loot my room when I'm out.
- Thin walls: had to deal with my neighbour snoring like a hippo last night.
- Awful shared facilites: broken shower cubicles, no soap dispensers, blocked drains, mildew, black bathtub, dusty cobwebs hanging down. This hotel should be renamed The Pitz-Carlton on that basis alone.
- No hot drinks facilities. Might be worth booking a cell in HM Prison Brixton for a heartier morning.
- Staff are currently talking heatedly outside my room, quite unprofessional.
- Have not had housekeeping change any of my linen yet (after four nights here).
- Furniture looks like it's been found by the side of the road.
- Some beds are unbelievably squeaky (I have moved from a twin to a single).

Despite it being a total dump, the Lonsdale Pitz-Carlton is very conveniently situated and you are unlikely to find a better deal in Central London if you don't mind dealing with dust and dank and can't bust the bank.

I burnt my hand on the radiator when I was in the bathroom because it was too hot and it really hurt. When I went to the Reception to complain, the Receptionist just looked at me and didn’t have anything to say

Safety issue

Damp, dark mildew ridden room in basement.  Rude staff when I complained said for the price you paid this is London it's all we have.  No running hot water in room toilet 50yds away.  Place should be condemned.  Please avoid at all costs sleeping on a bench in Russell Square would be better.

Electric socket failed (only socket in room) - in fact it was dangeruous. Advertises tv in the room - no remote and couldnt plug in. Curtains were fiflthy and falling down. Shelf in tiny bathroom broken. You cant sit straight on the toilet, there is insufficient room as the sink gets in the way and Shower was very low on pressure, Beds were uncomfortable. No tea/coffee making facilities in the room. Noisy during night as shared bathroom outside was being used regularly. Doesnt just needs TLC needs an entire make over of the room.

I had low expectations. They werent met!

Worst hotel I have ever stayed in. The place is absolutely filthy and needs closing down. The location is great, but everything about this hotel is awful, dirty thoughout, from the corridors, bedrooms, bathrooms. Bed sheets and towels stained, do not ever go to this hotel

Wouldn't let an animal sleep here

I could hear a loud drunk man screaming and shouting in the room down the corridor from me and it lasted all night and went on for several nights in a row the whole time I was staying there, it was very scary and I was worried for his girlfriend as I could hear what sounded like the sound of violence and her screams, there wasn't a phone in the room to call Reception and to be honest I don't think Reception would have been any help and would probably have made the situation worse.
