We stayed at the cabin during memorial weekend and had an amazing experience. Kelly was prompt right from the reservation and called a week ahead to make sure we had all the information. Checkin was a breeze and she made us comfortable and showed us around. 

We stayed with our two kids and another family with 2 kids. The cabin had 3rd bedroom with bunk beds and a tv so it was a hit among the kids! There were lots of games and water activities on premises. We borrowed kayaks, pontoon, water trike and it was so much fun. Little ones had a great time in the sand.

In all, we had an excellent stay. But once we got back home we realized that my husband left his sunglasses at the cabin. Kelly was very prompt and she found the glasses tucked behind the tv and mailed them to us promptly! Thanks Kelly!

Amazing stay!

When we first pulled in I wasn’t sure it was for us, the owner Kelly greeted us and showed us to our cabin, lake view. And that is exactly what we got. The cabin was spacious and spotless. View was exceptional. Quiet and relaxing. Our bathroom had a jacuzzi and a shower with 3 different heads! We went there to relax and that is exactly what we did. They supply bed sheets but you have to bring your own towels, washcloths and blankets, kitchen very well stocked. Can’t wait to go back! Oh by the way fishing was excellent!

Quiet, amazing and relaxing

We needed a dog friendly place when we were picking up a puppy nearby.  I was so pleasantly surprised by the cabin.  It was immaculate, and far nicer than the pictures we saw online.  Kelly was as nice as could be, and we really enjoyed our two nights there.  It was a little chilly, but nice enough to enjoy one evening by the fire pit and Adirondack chairs places outside each accommodation.  

The kitchen was well equipped, and the drip coffee maker had even been updated to a Keurig.  There was a small market very close and Avery well stocked market a few minutes drive away.  We enjoyed dinner at the very nearby Long Horn Pub one night, and picked up takeout the next night to eat in the cabin, enjoying the lake view.

I could happily enjoy a longer stay to use more of the amenities when the weather warms up just a little bit!

Great little hideaway

We have now gone 3 times this season and are trying to squeeze in one more before winter.  I think that should tell you how much we love it here.

First and foremost, Peter and Kelly are fantastic.  Booking, checking in and out are effortless.  The cabins are clean and have everything you need.  We love the fact that you get your own fire pit and free use of canoes and row boats.  The beach is a nice attraction and our kids love swimming in it.  Hideaway truly gets its name from the seclusion you feel while staying there.

Lake Vanare itself is amazing. Very family friendly.  It's location is perfect being situated between Lake George and the attractions of Queensbury.  However we rarely went to either since there is alot to do on the property.

The best family getaway

We stayed in the ‘Pine’ cottage

Pros:
Decent sized older cottage with 2 BR and 1 bath
Plenty of privacy and great for Covid distancing
Appliances and furniture are all functional
Private lake dock with your own canoes and rowboat
Had our own charcoal grill, fire pit and 4 outdoor chairs 
Good water pressure
Lake Vanare is beautiful
Only 10 minutes drive to Lake George
Plenty of closet and pantry space
Beds were comfortable

Cons:
WI-FI was very spotty
Beach is calm but not that nice (mushy bottom)
Very small shower stall and no bathtub
Layout of cottage (bathroom can’t be reached from 2nd BR without going thru 1st BR)
Limited toiletries supplied
No living room (only TV is in 1st BR)
No A/C or ceiling fan in 2nd BR
Limited activities (no swimming pool or nearby stores)
Parking space was about 200 yards from our room (wheelbarrows provided)

Family of 4 in late August

From the time of booking to departing was awesome. Peter, his wife and daughter really make your stay enjoyable. The Hideaway is a great place to unwind and relax. Very family oriented and everyone is so friendly. Highly recommend staying here. It’s amazing! Can’t wait to go back!

Perfect spot for a getaway!

Our family was looking for a secluded spot with individual cabins to accommodate our extended family for a week during this Covid summer.  Peter was able to offer us three 2-bedroom cabins in close proximity on the lake.  It was perfect!  We each had our own comfortable, clean, air conditioned cabins, but we were able to eat and play together outdoors. We swam in the lake,  canoed, took some beautiful hikes, and biked on the Lake George bike trail.  Everyone loved it, including the 3 small children (2, 4, and 6 years old).  A total success!

Perfect family get-away

Peter and Kelly are two very amazing individuals. The place is serene, beautiful and memorable in addition to a million other things. If you are looking for the best place to stay, this is the best place youll stay at ever. The view and location is perfect. It is close to pretty much everything except grocery stores so make sure to stock up before you arrive. Will definitely be returning to this amaziiiing place!!!

Best place ever!

The cabin is clean with a heaters and air conditioner, almost full kitchen with a refrigerator, coffee maker, gas stove, and even microwave.  The mattress however is awful)).  Outside we had a grill, fire place, a table, and a few chairs, its an open small area with a lake view.  Unfortunately, there is a bee hive in the front wall of the cabin, right next to the entrance, our dog wasn't very comfortable.  Also, there are no pets on a beach, but since we came in the off season, our dog could swim.  overall, its a beautiful place.

Peaceful

I was traveling with my teenage daughter and we stayed in the Overlook cottage with friends - a family of four. The accommodations were comfortable, clean, and really cute. We cooked breakfast and dinner every night, and the kitchen was easy to maneuver around and had plenty of pots and pans. We made a campfire at night and made s’mores. We loved the lake and the boats that we had at our disposal. The other folks using the lake were friendly and fun. We enjoyed the area attractions - we tuned and hiked and checked out the caves and went horseback riding. I went running every morning and explored the backroads that way. Peter was a great host. I highly recommend this place - but hope it’s available the next time I want to head up to the Adirondacks.
