Don't stay here if noise will be a problem. We could hear our neighbors entire conversation. The walls are thin. Other than that I feel like this will be the place I stay at from now on, I love the pool, hot tub and pool area. The beds were comfortable and the shower was nice. The lady at the desk was really kind and helpful. Its pet friendly. We paid a $50 pet deposit for 3 nights. Not bad.

This place is older but has a nice charm. Staff was friendly, room was clean, & the golf cart rental right next door gave us a little discount for staying there too. The pool & hottub were a bonus, but it closes early.

We had a great time very nice place it was a well kept property very clean and the staff was very professional and courteous it's close to the beach and stores we're going back again.

It was a super cute cabin that fit my family of 4 comfortably.

Very peaceful, very clean. Just didnt like pool close at 10 pm.

We loved this place! It was the perfect place to bring kids. The pool was amazing… the shallow pool is great the littles and the bigger kids had a great time in the big pool. Snow cone shop is a great touch! Can’t wait to go back!

We stayed with our puppy and it was perfect! The room was dog-friendly and there was plenty of space for us to take her on and off leash. There was also a relaxing jetted hot tub as well as a wading pool, a lounging pool, and a swimming poll—all saltwater!

Tammy and the rest of the staff were super friendly and the facilities were clean. Very at home vibe. We really enjoyed the location, and the pool, and that it was pet friendly. We will definitely be back. Would have stayed longer if we could have 

Vacation with our pups 

Exceptional customer service from the staff, the  General Manager went above and beyond to ensure that we were accommodated accordingly. I strongly recommend this resort!! Definitely coming back!!!!!!

We stayed in an RV spot with our monstrous toy hauler, we had plenty room to not only open the back garage/patio but, we were able to open our side patio, it was very nice, we had our pickup and golf cart, everything fit nicely in our spot. Everyone was nice at Tropic Island Resort and the property is well kept. The only issue we had was trying to stayed connected to our internet but, by no means was it an issue with the resort. I checked online and AT&T seems to not be the strongest in Port Aransas. We will definitely stay there again.

Fun Weekend Getaway to Port A

I was definitely impressed with how clean the cottage is. The exterior is outdated, however, inside is very well updated. The living room and bedroom both have flat screen TV’s. The furniture is also updated. The restroom has a vintage look but is super clean. There is no carpet throughout the cottage. We stayed in cottage 107, there is a fan in the bedroom, however, it was warm at night as there were no AC vents. We still slept comfortably just would have been nicer to have the room cooler as we are used to sleeping. The rest of the cottage was cool. There are two salt water pools, one for adults and one for kids. There is also a hot tub. The pool area was very nicely kept. They provided great music. There is also a shaved ice venue on site. Already looking forward to coming back!

Quick Getaway

We had an AMAZING stay! It was exceptionally clean, beautiful living area, kitchen, bedroom, and bathroom with plenty of towels! Staff was very sweet and very attentive. Location is amazing, minutes away from the beach. We will definitely be coming back!!

Family Vacation

We stayed here after making last minute reservations so late. It was one of the last places that had vacancies. We were in a one bedroom cottage and it was just the most quaint and cute place! It had a full size refrigerator, a stove, kitchen well equipped. Nice full size bed, although we are used to King with my very tall husband. The bathroom has no counter space, but that is ok, NO biggie. We met some wonderful people there that have been coming to this place for years. Had a neighbor that left his little doggie in a cage and it was yelping for hours. He finally did come and take care of the pup. All in all, a really nice place to stay. Did not get to use the pool, but it looked very nice.

A real nice surprise!

The location is ideal - walking distance to the waterfront where you can see dolphins all the time, and to numerous restaurants.  Good facilities - the events center is particularly helpful if you are part of a large group.  Friendly staff.  We stayed in one of the two-bedroom units - very nice.  On the other hand, we were in unit 135; the people above us on our last night were apparently practicing for a hippopotamus stage show all night long.

Great location, good time

Good location, an easy walk to the community park and Roberts Point Park for dolphin watching and the seasonal decorations. The room itself had a comfortable mattress, bedding, and nice pillows. Big closet, lots of space (bring extra hangers). Nice body wash, lotion, and shampoo & conditioner in the bathroom. Unclear on how to get refreshed towels daily, so we ended up using the beach towels we had brought with us. Floors were dirty/gritty, but that's pretty much to be expected at a beach destination. Free wifi/Internet/TV was a little bit spotty especially it seems when there were many people 'at home' but worked fine when fewer people were using it. Dog park was hard to find, not well lit, small, not inviting. Luckily the Port A. community park has a nice dog park we enjoyed. Hot tub looked cloudy, but the pool was very nice, heated and salt water. Walls are very thin, we had a large family staying next door, even heard snoring at night--which we did not see a need to complain about to the front desk, as these things do happen.

Unfortunately, the front desk called us the first afternoon after we had checked in late the previous evening and told us that there had been complaints that our dogs barked & kept neighbors up 'all night' (I guess that's why they were snoring so loudly?) and that we had left the dogs in the room while we 'went out'. We had arrived at around 8pm, unloaded our luggage, and walked our dogs for about an hour, got back to our room around 10 and went to bed. If the dogs had barked, they would have disturbed us FIRST before they disturbed the neighbors. Front desk person acted like I was lying when I told them this and spoke to me in a scolding tone. I suspect the neighbors made up a lie to tell the front desk after they saw us arriving with dogs as a way to try and get a free or discounted stay. Nevertheless, it was offensive and hurtful to be treated that way over a lie.

This is the truth: We never left the dogs alone in the room. They were with us the entire time, we were out of the room most of the day every day of our visit, and went to bed early each night. They would occasionally bark once or twice and be quickly shushed by us when the large family next door would periodically slam doors and yell.

The place itself is fine, with the exception of the thin walls and unkind front desk person. It is not the resort's fault that there was a huge group of loud people in a room next to a quiet couple whose dogs are not used to children and people yelling and slamming doors. I do wish the business had been proactive and offered another room to either us or the giant family to resolve the issue. 

Under different circumstances, the resort itself could be a very pleasant, affordable place to stay in the off-season. But if you get bad neighbors, you will be out of luck.

clean, good location, thin walls

Our room was disgusting. Toilet and shower were not clean. Pee and hair everywhere. The entire place was just gross because it needed a deep clean. Dust and hair and dead bugs in all the corners. Kitchen had dirty dishes and spills that looked like they had been there awhile. Pool was nice but that was it. Had family who stayed in other rooms and every room had issues. Would not stay again.

Was not a pleasant stay

Years ago this place was a Dump, but then after Harvey it was rebuilt and very nice, but I notice as the years go on, this place is slowly heading towards a downward trend, Simple maintenance could keep this place nice, not sure if its management, or the owner, one room we stayed in, the AC had a loud screeching noise that you could not sleep, this past weekend the room we stayed in, sink is rusting as is the shower rod, ( I know its at the coast with salt air) the toilet was leaking from the base every time you flushed it (Gross), when you turn the shower on, half the water comes out of the spicket and half out the shower head, a little vinegar would fix this or replace it, Got a little cool so I turned on the heater and same thing, it was making a buzzing noise that we had to turn it off so we could sleep. Just little things but there are adding up. Its a shame because at one time we use to go there literally every other weekend in the spring and summer. I just feel that in time the tropic island will be that nasty old place it use to be, I hope they start correcting the issues and keep this place as nice as it was when they rebuilt it because we really like staying there.
