The location is very close to the city center and a bit hard to find. This is however rather normal in Albanian towns since there are a lot of small roads. We have a car of around 2.3 m height, 2.2 m width and 5.3 m length. For us it was easily possible to reach the destination as soon as we figured out which roads to take.

Parking is available next to the gate of the guest house on a dead end road. The owners are friendly and welcoming. The rooms are simple but very clean and provide an authentic experience. The location has a very nice terrace with a great view of the castle. The city center and the Ethnographic Museum (former communist leader Enver Hoxda’s birth house) are in close walking distance. Breakfast was served on the terrace and was tasty and plenty. Absolute recommendation to stay for a night or two to explorer Gjirokastra and the surroundings.

Nice and authentic location close to the city center.

Matilda is a wonderful host, helpful, nice and with plenty of will to make you feel like at home. The room was spacious, very beautiful and comfortable, just a shame that we couldn't have breakfast in the roof top because of the cold. The breakfast had a bit of everything so it was also nice. The location of the guest house is very good to get to everything but do not go there on foot with the suitcase cause it's up the hill. Better to get a taxi, bus or whatever that drops you at the entrance. We did it walking with a heavy suitcase and almost didnt make it. Luckily, for the return, Matilda and her husband took us to the bus stop by car. Thanks a lot to Matilda for everything! It's been a very nice stay!

Superb!

We had a lovely stat at this beautiful guest  house(july 2018). Very nice family, clean rooms and delicious breakfast. Cheap and super quality. We loved it all 5. There is a beautiful terrasse on the roof where it is god to enjoy the evening and also the good breakfast the family made for us, with good traditional dishes. Strong coffee as always in Albania. Had a wonderful talk with the house Brother. Fantastic person who gave a lot of good advice for our days in Gjirokastër.

Fantastic

The location is amazing, a simple 10-minute walk to the castle, and about a 5-minute walk to the bazaar center. The guest house is super lovely, with a beautiful view from the terrace and the typical traditional house of the region. The rooms were super comfortable, clean, and a decent size. The same goes for the bathroom. All towels and toiletries are provided. The garden is lovely, you could just chill in the morning or the evening with some coffee or drinks on the terrace. The host is the loveliest, nicest person you'll ever meet. Very thoughtful and kind, and helpful with tips for the local must-see places and eateries. She was also accommodating for our breakfast and makes it fresh just before eating time which is whenever you wish it to be. Just let her know what time you would like to eat. The breakfast is delicious with traditional food and homemade recipes.

Super location, great accommodations, amazing host !

We found this guesthouse after striking out with a couple other places in Girokaster...must have been fate. This place is amazing! Matilda and her family were very friendly and welcoming. Our room was perfect for a couple overnight or few days and was very clean. The rooftop terrace was a great spot for relaxing after a day of exploring. The traditional breakfast served on the terrace was quite possibly the best breakfast I’ve ever had and worth the price of the room alone.

Amazing guesthouse!

We stayed at Kore guest house in Gjirokaster in October 2020 and had a great experience. The room was super clean, the beds were very comfortable; there were towels, hair drier, as well as slippers. Free Wifi. The terrace has a great view of the castle. The lady who took care of us was very gentle. She offered us a very delicious home made wine for free in the evening. She also prepared a wonderful breakfast with eggs, cheese, home made tasty jams, petulla & qifqi, fresh fruits and mountain tea. It was amazing. And the price was very convenient. You can book through a phone call; the number is on line. I will for sure be back @ Kore guest house when I will return to Gjirokaster.

Comfortable room, location & owner

The host was amazing and welcoming , great view of the city and its castle from the terrace where you can also enjoy breakfast. Highly recommend. Very good location. Nice and clean. A very good breakfast. 

Had a great time

We booked a triple room for one night. The guest house is located in the historical part of Gjirokaster and has a balcony where you can enjoy your breakfast and the beautiful view. The beds were comfortable, the room was clean and it was decorated with the traditional Albanian style. This guesthouse serves you the best quality with the lowest prices around!
I also want to mention Ms. Matilda which was very kind during our stay and helped us out with any question/ request we had. The delicious breakfast is also cooked by her.
I highly recommend you book this place if you're visiting Gjirokaster city.

Best place to stay

Stayed here for 2 nights, on our little trip round southern Albania. A lovely clean twin/double room with mosquito nets on all the  soundproofed windows. Matilda is a great hostess and serves breakfast up on the rooftop terrace. Or wine/beer and fruit if you want to relax there after walking round the town.Thoroughly recommended.

A gem of a place!

Kore Guesthouse is a very cosy and beautiful guesthouse in the center of Gjirokaster. The room is spacious and very clean, the bathroom as well and the wifi is very fast. 
The family is welcoming and kind, and they serve a really tastful breakfast in the morning. They speak English very well. 
The guesthouse is located in walking distance from the castle and from lots of nice restaurants and the bazaar.
I would really recommand a stay in Kore Guesthouse, we loved this place.
