Best hotel traditional in albania

What a lovely small hotel close to all of the sites in Tirana.  The staff was so welcoming & the rooms were spacious & special.  The hotel was originally a residence & they have kept special touchs. The breakfast was plentiful & there are good  restaurants within walking distance.

Great place to stay in Tirana

A fantastic hotel which I would highly recommend.

The hotel is located in the centre of Tirana and near to all main sights. The rooms are spacious and beautifully decorated and the breakfast has a good range of things to start off your day.

The staff were welcoming, friendly and really helpful from arrival through to checking out.

Nothing but positive things to say about my stay and a huge thank you to the Brilant Antik team.

Brilliant Hotel and Friendly Staff

Last weekend, we stayed at the Brilant Antik Hotel in Tirana. And I have to say that choosing this hotel was a very good decision.
Of course, we saw all the good reviews this hotel had, so we did have quite high expectations. And I am pleased to say that reality exceeded expectations.

1.	Hotel
Brilant Antik Hotel is situated in the heart of Tirana, within walking distance of all the main places to see in Tirana. You need about 10 minutes to go to Main Square, New Bazar, and Castle. Although in the centre of the town, the hotel itself stands about 200 metres from the main road, so you do not hear busy street noise.
Also, as we have been told, this is the oldest hotel in Tirana. And they made sure that guests could feel it as soon as they passed the entrance doors, thanks to very tasteful decorations and ornaments.

2.	Communication with the hotel
From the moment we booked our stay until the last moment of it, there were never problems with fast and efficient communication with the hotel. We got replies on Booking.com, but mainly we stayed in contact with the hotel manager. As in many places in the world, the most efficient way of communicating was by using WhatsApp, and that is what we used as well, was extremely efficient and helpful, especially with organising a one-day tour for us.

3.	Arrival and check-in
We arrived at the airport about 1 p.m. by cab and were able to check in straight away. The whole process was smooth and non-problematic. We were able to use our card to pay for the room without any problems. Please remember that there will be a city tax added to your bill. It is a small amount and far less than what you have to pay in Italy, Germany, and France. The very polite receptionist gave us all the information we needed for our stay. We also meet in real life the manager Joli, everyone we met in the hotel could speak perfect English, which made our life much easier, as we do not speak Albanian at all.

4.	Room.
We stayed in the Deluxe Twin Room. And again, it exceeded our expectations. Two huge wooden and very stylish beds, a comfortable mattress, pillow, and duvet. What else would one need to have a good sleep? 

The room was very tastefully decorated in old Albanian style, with an interesting wooden ornament on the ceiling, wooden chairs, tables, bedside tables, some carpets, and, of course, a huge two-door wooden wardrobe. There was also a minibar and television with access to YouTube and some streaming services (not that we watched it). Room is also equipped with extremely efficient and surprisingly quiet air-con unit. 

The room’s bathroom was quite spacious and had everything one would expect.
Everything was really clean, and you could feel freshness in the air. 

5.	Breakfast.
For our own convenience with reservations, we made sure that we would have breakfast included. And again, we do not regret it.

The hotel serves continental breakfast, so bread, cold cut, meat, cheese, eggs, etc. There was also a sweeter selection with croissants, jams, marmalade, Nutella, etc. . And, of course, some fruits. Coffee is made by machine, which in those days was normal in most of the hotels; however, I have to say that the quality of it was really good. It was the perfect breakfast for us and kept us going for a very long time.

The breakfast is served in the bar/restaurant area in the basement of the building. But again, there was a lot of effort to ensure that this building and cultural inheritance were preserved. Very stylish decoration, mainly wooden, but also with some stone elements. It made the whole breakfast experience even better.

6.	Trips
We were in Albania for only three days, but we wanted to see as much as possible during this time. Hence, we decided to go on a trip to Durres and Berat.

And this time as well, our hotel, and especially our manager, were more than helpful. Within such a long time period, our private trip was organised Vladimir had a lot of patience and were answering all our questions until we were satisfied.

The trip itself was also great. Our driver, proved to be a very knowledgeable person, with a lot of fascinating information about places we were going to, but also Albania itself. And not just boring historical facts, but the ones that show the real face of this beautiful and underappreciated country. He made sure that we were not bored during transits between cities. He was, of course, very flexible and accommodating, which gave us full freedom to enjoy the places we were visiting without worrying about time frames.

7.	Check-out
Again, very smooth process. We just gave back our key and that is all. We sadly have to leave this great Hotel.
Summarising
The Brilant Antik Hotel is definitely a place we can recommend to anyone. Reasonably priced, perfectly located, and greatly and tastefully decorated, it gives you that good feeling and lets you enjoy your holiday. It is getting much harder those days to find a hotel where everything is as you would like it to be and where people working there make you feel welcomed.

Perfect and very friendly place to stay while in Tirana.

I booked this hotel through Booking.com and was informed that the payment would be managed by the property itself. Though my check-in time was supposed to be at 1:30 PM, I reached Albania at 11 AM and requested an early check-in for 12:30 PM through Booking.com. However, the property did not respond to my request. Upon reaching the hotel at 12:30 PM, I was allowed to leave my bags but was not allowed to use the toilet. Fortunately, the hotel's location was near the square, so we left our luggage and went out for food. When checking in, I was informed that I had to pay 20 Euros more than the booking.com fee (after my Genius discount) as there was a tourist tax. Although I initially agreed to it, I later discovered from some local tour guides that this was a scam and they even advised me to report it to the police. I did not want to go through the hassle of reporting it for just 20 Euros, so we left it at that. After returning home, I asked the property to send me a breakdown of the bill, including the tax. However, they sent me a fake bill without the name of the property. When I inquired about the tax, they mentioned it was a municipality tax. I found it strange that the property was passing on the burden of the municipality tax to the tourists. So, I gave a 1-star review on Booking.com and raised a complaint. The property then sent me a message via WhatsApp asking me to remove my review and promised to refund me. But something seemed fishy, and they kept emotionally blackmailing me to remove the review (screenshots attached). Additionally, they declined the complaint I raised via booking.com, accusing us of using the minibar and late checkout, which was not true. We did not touch anything from the minibar and left the property before 8 AM to catch the 8 AM bus from the Square as our return flight was at 10:35. I want to caution everyone about this scam and advise you to avoid this property at all costs. The breakfast and the wifi signal were also terrible.

Terrible

Had the best time at this hotel, location, staff, breakfast, very comfortable to stay and highly would recommend the hotel, definitely would stay there again when we go back to Tirana, cannot say anything negative about the hotel

Great property

Except for 4 floor climb I couldn’t ask for a better place to stay in Tirana . The staff were terrific always wanting to help and be attentive. Room was well laid out and had all you could want except a chair . Breakfast was buffet and better than average. The location made everything walkable and always felt safe . Restaurants everywhere near . Pick this hotel

Perfect location in Tirana

Antik (antique) is an appropiate name for this hotel in the center of Tirana. We were here on 2 occasions in 2 different rooms, the first (7) comfortable, the other (12) unfortunately less, especially the bathroom. 
On walking distance of the Skanderbeg square. Coming by car, it can be difficult to find a parking place in the small street, but the staff is inventive in creating spaces.


Central location

I can just say that the rooms were comfortable, clean and quiet. The staff is very kind and the price is also very good. If you're in Tirana and you need a comfortable, quiet and clean hotel, i recommend the Brilant Antik Hotel

Clean and comfortable rooms, super kind staff.

We were very disappointed to be moved to the hotel next door as soon as we arrived to check in. Apparently, our room had no water or electricity and there were no other available rooms. The hotel we were moved to was brand new and more expensive but the bathroom had a very unpleasant smell and the room was tiny - way smaller than the room we had booked. We were asked to cancel our booking on Booking.com which we did - but this has prevented us from providing any feedback there - and possibly removed any record of our booking.
This was all handled in a very friendly way but we were left feeling like we had been misled - it may be wrong but we heard that a group was in the hotel and previous reviews mention over booking being common - it certainly felt like that to us.
We were told to come to the Brilant Antik for breakfast. On Our first morning there, they told us that the buffet had been cleared by a group so served us a limited breakfast in the reception lounge. On our second morning we had the buffet - which was underwhelming to say the least.
To cap it off, we both got bitten a number of times from something when we sat in the lounge having a drink.
Not a hotel I would return to!
