We were picked up at our hotel in Mendoza at 9:15 by Chris and drove about 1.3 hours to this beautiful family owned ranch near the Uco Valley. There we were greeted by the owner Juan who offered us a delicious cake and coffee and mate. We then went out on horses for about 2 hours and this was followed by a delicious lunch(the best empanadas that we had in all of our time in Argentina) and a wonderful meat course and vegetables including onions and potatoes that are grown at the estancia.We returned back to the hotel around 5:30 pm Juan was a great host and I would fully recommend this day for anyone visiting Mendoza.

Our day out at Estancia La Alejandro will be one of our most memorable days of our lives.  The service was amazing, the food was fantastic and the horseback ride along the Andes was wonderful.  Photos do not do this experience justice.  Previous horse back riding experience is not required.

A Memorable Day !

We were recommended this ranch Visit by our hotel and it proved to be an excellent trip. The ranch is beautifully rustic with the most spectacular views and is about one hour +20 minutes from chacres. 

We’d not properly ridden before but felt very safe with beautiful horses, riding alongside wild horses, wild dogs, cattle and condors flying up above. 

Lunch afterwards was fantastic, with all the ingredients from the ranch. Juan was a perfect host. 

Brilliant day for novice riders

My friend and I had a wonderful time on a day trip to La Alejandra. If you want peace and quiet with miles and miles of beautiful scenery with the majestic Andes as your backdrop, you won’t go wrong with La Alejandra. My friend and I were the only guests for the day so it added to the beautiful solitude. 

For about $200 per person total for the day, we were picked up in a private  car.  We were going to drive ourselves but we couldn’t find an automatic car to rent  in Mendoza.  I’m glad we didn’t because the drive up the mountain seemed difficult and best driven in a 4-wheel vehicle. It was gravel and narrow in certain places against a cliff and signage was non-existent.

We were served alfajores, tea and juice upon arrival and enjoyed the beautiful atmosphere for a bit. We then got saddled up and went horseback riding for a couple of hours. It was just beyond beautiful and relaxing. I felt like there wasn’t another soul for miles. Our guide Adrian was great. There was enough engaging conversation not to be boring but still allowed us to enjoy and take in the beauty around us in silence. We enjoyed a short break from the ride with a glass or two of Malbec.

We then had lunch and it was beyond excellent. The lunch was worth the trip by itself. There was a parade of mouth watering empanadas, cuts of meat and cheeses, steak, sausages and the most amazing desert.

Amazing Daytrip, Excellent Lunch

Mathias picked us up from Mendoza bus station and took a detour through a winery on the way up to the ranch and picked us fresh cherry’s and fruit from the trees!  We arrived at our quaint, comfortable lodging, had a lovely lunch and then went for a ride! The horses are well looked after and are really forward going!  They don’t just plod! We had our dinner cooked outside with the stunning Andes as our backdrop and then enjoyed another ride the following day with a wine stop and saw some wild horses too ! 
The food and hospitality is top notch, the lodgings basic but comfy. I would highly recommend a trip here from Mendoza. 

A great experience 

Family of four went to this lovely small ranch for the day and had an incredible experience! 

We were greeted by Mathias who was a delight of a host and guide for our day.  We lucked out having the owner of the business guiding us throughout the day.

Leonardi who works there too was wonderful, as we were greeted with fresh coffee and delicious orange juice. We even shared our first cup of Matte with him. 

The views of the Andies in the background simply took our breath away.

When we began our ride on the horses, the Gauchos allowed us room to roam around on our own but were also lovely conversationalists and very informative. The horses were impeccably trained and in great health. 

As a special treat of the tour, we were brought to a herd of wild horses where Gaucho Matthias showed us how the lead male horse defended his herd. 

The land was incredibly huge and the views were indescribable. Pictures can not do the scenery justice. 

We were given the opportunity to gallop if we felt brave enough, but not pressured for those who weren't   We also were able to herd cows.  Can't believe we can check that off our bucket list now! 

In the middle of this dream of a ride we stopped for a surprise bottle of wine 15 minute break. 

When we returned for our lunch, we were continued to be blown away by this lovely place. 
Their empanadas (one meat one sweet corn per guest) were impeccable! We then were served salad, meat, carnitas, meat, meat, and more meat.
Oh, and of course wine!!!

It was an incredible memory we will never forget. 
10/10 would recommend to anyone

We booked one night at Estancia La Alejandra for late December. The booking was confirmed through Expedia, however the day we were going to check-in we had our current hotel call to confirm what time we should arrive and they had no trace of our reservation. They said they don't use Expedia, however I booked them through Expedia. They did no help accommodate us or offer any solution. We were out to scramble last minute for a hotel but were really looking forward to staying at this Estancia. Be careful about your booking as they are not willing to help or confirm your reservation.
