The room was very nice.  The food was excellent.  The excursions exceeded all expectations.  We saw more animals than you would expect to see in a zoo.  Two species of deer, Rhea, Howler Monkeys, two species of Cayman.  capybara, endless species of birds.  Our guide knew the names of every species and gave wonderful explanations.  We took a canoe ride and fished for piranhas and other fish.  It was all delightful.  All of the staff was very attentive and our every need attended to.

Best Vacation

This is really the most magical place. We visited at the end of our honeymoon and it was the perfect choice. 

The wetlands themselves are extraordinary, utterly peaceful, the animals plentiful and unbelievably tame and it’s both very, very beautiful and empty. You are practically alone in an area the size of Belgium. It’s no understatement to say that it feels like a corner of the Garden of Eden. 

The Posada could not have been more perfect. Wonderfully friendly and professional staff, a comfortable room, delicious food and a great guide. The price may at first seem expensive but it’s actually very good value for what you get. We did two EXCELLENT included activities every day. 

The long drive from Posadas down an unmade road (on our return we saw only two cars in two hours) may seem a challenge but it is definitely worth it, the price for such blissful peace. 



A magical place 

The Ibera Reserve was one of our favourite destinations in Argentina Very much worth the effort to organise a 4*4 taxi to get there and a great place to relax for a few days and watch the incredible bird life, caiman, capybara and deer rather than rush in and out on a day trip. 

We stayed at Posada de la Laguna where we had such attentive service for 3 days using their all inclusive package. All meals; 2 trips in the park a day. A wonderful spot and peaceful and uncrowded compared to many other destinations in the country.

Secluded and beautiful spot to relax around incredible wildlife

When planning a 'bucket list' trip to Argentina,  our research identified the Esteros de Ibera
as a 'must visit'. The wetland area promised a lot, as did the accommodation at the  Posada de la Laguna. We were not disappointed and if anything it all exceeded our expectations, even if we arrived with electric storms in progress – the weather soon gets better!
The accommodation lived up to the description we were given in advance and there's no doubt that it is like 'staying with charming friends'.
We were expecting to see a lot of flora, fauna, birds and mammals and it was all there in abundance. However, good guides don't assume everyone knows what they are seeing and we were treated to sights and sounds that were explained and interpreted by our guide. The jaguar remained elusive but at least one cat was seen, a Gato Montes.
The hotel staff were superb in other ways too, and it might not have been good for the waistline, to have stayed any longer, as breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner were top class – particularly the home made cakes and desserts. The whole team at the Posada managed to maintain a friendly and professional approach that we certainly appreciated, and our various trips by boat, on foot and on horseback were discussed with us, in advance, so that we always had something to look forward to. All in all we would highly recommend the Posada de La Laguna, situated right on the glittering water.


Just magic

La Posada de la Laguna provides an astonishing encounter with the under-appreciated Argentinian wetlands known as the Esteros del Iberá. We spent 4 days enjoying the excellent meals and friendly service of the hotel and, above all, the excursions on and around the lagoon. Roque, who guides the tours by boat, canoe and on foot, knows the area like the back of his hand. We spent time chilling with capybaras, caymans, marsh deer, monkeys, and countless varieties of birds. If you visit around the time of the full moon, don't miss the evening outing in the boat, during which you might experience a breathtaking surprise.
If you love wildlife and tranquility, and you're up for a 3-4 hour 4x4 ride from Posadas, or a somewhat shorter one from Mercedes, this destination should not be missed!

The  driver Nando is a wonderful travel companion, and knows every rut in the dirt road leading to the destination. We speak some Spanish, but suspect that he would get along fine in any language with a certain amount of hand-waving!

Posada de la Laguna: a must-visit

The Posada exceeded our expectations in every way as did the lagoon and abundance of wildlife.
Luckily the poor access means the park and location remain unspoilt. Please don’t improve the road as the wildness and isolation will surely be compromised!

Elsa and her team run the Posada with great attention to detail focusing on quality, decor and local artifacts in a simple uncomplicated way. End result is enchanting but don’t expect hi tech or fancy features. 

We were greeted as friends when we arrived by Millie and team and left feeling we had made friends here. Roque our guide was so knowledgeable. Our twice daily trips with him were a highlight and we learnt so much about the birds and other animals. The night trip with glow worms, stars and lake will always stay in our memories.

Spending time relaxing in the garden, our hammock or around the pool was made even better by sightings of Hummingbirds, Rails and Cayman all around us. It was might hot though and take plenty of mosquitoe repellent.

Finally thanks to great catering team and the girls who served splendid food. As in rest of Argentina there is always too much so we restricted lunch to 1 course so we could find room for tea and dinner!

Place and food are amazing. Complete breakfast and afternoon snack, three steps lunch’s and dinner, kindly served in a familiar warm space. We were in a cold winter, and the dining room was warm enough. Rooms are very clean, big, excellent bath amenities and blankets. The temperature at the rooms were a little bit colder than we wished and there is no conditioning air (imagining warm months) So, that is the only weak point
Our guide, Roque, a local guide, was excellent in every tour, and they were a lot. Patient, kind, and very professional. The place is plenty of local animal and thousands of birds, a beautiful environment

Wonderful place

The hotel is located in an amazing natural park, wildlife is incredible and the staff does an amazing job coordinating activities within the park.
The hotel rooms are comfy and perfectly clean (especially given the location!).
However, the hotel lacks proper areas to relax and enjoy nature (except for a not very clean pool). Having deckchairs / chaise-longs or something of the sort outside the rooms for example would have been much appreciated.
Last but definitely not least, the meals are not according to the lodge’s pricing. We expected more elaborate menus and larger servings. During our stay we saw some guests asking for “refills” since they were still hungry, the kitchen couldn’t offer anything else.
