The receptionist offered to book a taxi for us to the airport and informed it was 100 pesos on total (250 each). When arriving at the airport the driver informed us the total price would be 600 pesos and that we were supposed to pay him directly in the end of the trip. He didn't complain when we told we had paid the hostel owner, but we then learned that she charged 400 pesos for the simple act of booking a taxi, without clarifying what we were paying for. It seems to me it was in bad faith and I wouldn't go back there when there are so many better options.

Overcharged by the receptionist for transportation to the airport.

The staff is not very welcoming and you feel more like you're disturbing rather than anything else. The place is horrible... very simple, not cozy at all, very old... the bedroom was almost depressing. The bathroom was very bad. The water from the toilet kept running, we had some beetles in our shower and the whole bedroom/bathroom looked dirty... the kind of place where you feel dirtier after a shower. We had a very bad first impression, but in the end we spent 2 nights and slept well. That's because we were tired and we don't mind the noise, cause it was very noisy, mostly due to the staff having what there seems the rest of their family watching TV in the common area. honestly, it;s very pricy for what it offers... add a couple of pounds more and get smoething way better.

The only good thing about the place is its location. But there are many other hostels in the area so better to avoid this one.

Avoid it

Although I had booked a double room, we were placed in the barracks out in the garden  and the room had two bunk-beds and nothing else. The heating was on and off. The water closet was broken. Everything was falling into pieces. We paid 105 euros for 2 nights and couldn't get a receipt. This was a true rip off. Moreover, the owner acted as if she was the most clever woman ever. I had booked through Booking.com, but she reported us as "no-show" after we left !!! This was the most miserable and unfriendly place I could imagine. The authorities should cancel the license because it does not comply with any standards whatsoever.

Well the price is cheap for being in Calafate, and you get what you pay for! The place did not smell well, and although that I think it was clear. It didn't seem so! 
They promised someone would be in the reception in the morning, but no body was there to help :(

Not good enough 

We stayed here in a double room with a bathroom. It was really clean, always warm and had a great kitchen. It's also really well located, very close to the supermarket and bus station. We didn't have to pay the 21% vat at the end. We were not asked to so perhaps this beginning to change in Argentina!
