I am a skilled traveler and very flexible and understanding with people and services during my trips.

I was hosted by Bla Guesthouse for 3 nights with other 5 friends in two private rooms. While my friends complained a lot about lack of warm water, very poor breakfast, a clogged bathtub and an unreliable internet connection (from 12th feb afternoon until next day when I left for an excursion, wifi was OFF), I was always at the position that this is only a hostel and we need to accept things like this in such places.

Then we ran out of toilette paper. When asking for a new roll, all I got was a 1 third of a roll for a triple room. Hmmm....Yellow flag here.  That is starting to cross certain limits. 

The cherry of the cake was my last day in El Calafate. My flight departed at 18:15, so I bought at the Bla Guesthouse reception both a bus round ticket (that supposedly departed at 8:30 towards the pasarelas of Perito Moreno and that would return 3 hours later, being back at 14:30. With a 30min walking distance I would be back in hostel at 15:00) and a bus transfer to the airport that would pick me up in the hostel at 16:00. Perfect plan for my last hours in this beautiful place.

The day of the trip (and thankfully before getting on the bus) I thankfully double checked with the bus driver the return time only to find out the return would be 6hrs later, not 3!!!

With a calm that other travelers wouldn't have, I accepted the situation and the error of the receptionist, after all we are all humans and mistakes happen. I just needed my money refunded.

For my surprise, the owner (or manager ?) of Bla Guesthouse refused to give me back the paid 40'000 pesos for this trip (or even half of it when I generously offered to share). She actually never showed up or made herself available for either a fair face-to-face or even via phone discussion. She has hidden herself covered by her employee who had the hard task to tell me her decision.

This for me really turned into an unacceptable behavior. Red, black flag! I now feel robbed. 

It is not only about their mistake but about how a business reacts to it. It is about being greedy and not being accountable or responsible. Imagine if I had gotten into that bus and missed my flight? 

Keep your distance away from this hostel, that's my best advice!

Lost my travel day, lost money, lost my sleep...

The shower was not very powerful and the bathroom and room in general was quite crowded. We were charged at the official dollar rate (not the blue dollar), which, being our first stop in Argentina, seemed to be normal. As we continued out trip around the country, we realised the rest of hotels charged us in blue dollars so be aware. Breakfast was fine and location was handy for pick up/drop off of any organised trips

When my friends and I jumped on Hostelworld to find a hostel and booked BLA! for a few nights, we chose it because it was cheap, not because we were looking for the nicest place in town. As soon as we arrived, we were greeted warmly by Faqundo, who gave us service that made us feel as if we were in a 5-star hotel. He gave us suggestions of what to do in town, showed us our rooms, and told us to see him if we needed anything. Kind and professional. The room was spotlessly clean, as were the bathrooms. Being the end of their season, it was very quiet, which my friends and I actually really appreciated. The location is great, just a block or two down from the main road, but far enough to have a quiet feel, and right down the street from the world's best Waffle Place! If you are looking for a party hostel, this is probably not the place for you. If you are looking for a nice, relaxing, peaceful clean guesthouse with a homey feel, and amazing service from the employees, then this is the place for you. And all that at such a low cost... I could go on. Last thing: They have a fully stocked kitchen and even offer a free simple breakfast. I would recommend this Guesthouse if you ever visit El Calafate. Very Surprised (In a Good Way)

Great price so I have to take this into context.
Breakfast is pretty basic, just juice, coffee and some cakes.

Staff are helpful though annoyingly we had an incident in which we had to leave early the next day, we were offered an early breakfast that would be left for us,  but in the morning early, there was nothing and we had to leave for our day tour with an empty stomach. A shame when others there had been left a breakfast.  That said, they called a taxi for us and always answered our questions as best they could

Mixed feelings

The blonde receptionist of the place (sorry but forgot her name) was super helpful and friendly. The place itself is really good in terms of price, location and facilities. The only but is that the days we were there was really windy and the window frames are not sealed, therefore there is a constant draft in the room, also the bed in the room was broken in the middle lower part of it so it cracked and moved in a concerning way.

You get what you pay for

Walking distance to downtown, grocery and 15min walk to bus terminal. Clean & comfortable private room for 2 w/ queen bed + towels + private bath for 1965 pesos as of Jan 2020. Common area & kitchen. Friendly staff. Basic breakfast of toast, fruit and cereal included. Nice kitchen to prepare basic meals, but restricted hours.

BREAKFAST was OK quite basic and towells are not included.generally good cobditionds for the price u pay.Staff very helpful and friendly but when arranging the bus do.it with some extra time or take a taxi I almost lost my FlIghthe cause the guy was stopping in every single hostel on the way

Good enough for the price

I stayed there for 2 nights in 2 different rooms. In one of the rooms, they have a serious bed bug problem. After a night in this room I had bed bug bites all over my body and even saw one sitting on my bed. I wrote them an E-Mail afterwards (as I left before I could tell them personally), but never got an answer. As I found out later, there have been more people having had a problem with bed bugs before in the same room. So although the hostel obviously knew about it, they didn't tell me and let me stay in this room. As the sheets   and the pillow were also quite dirty, I can definetly not recommend to stay in this place. I know that sometimes it's not the hostel's fault that there are bed bugs, but in this case it seems as if they just don't care. 

Besides the situation in the dorm room, the kitchen and the common area are quite nice (but a bit to small if the hostel is full). Wifi is working well and it's only a 5 minute walk to the center.

But as I am still suffering from the bed bug bites days after I stayed there and never got at least an excuse for that, I am not willing to give them a better review...

Bed bugs!!!

Confortable rooms, clean bathrooms, super kind staff, plentiful and delicious breakfast, and if you book with great advantage you can spend really littlemoney. It has been a very enjoiable experience for us.

Simply perfect

We stayed here for two nights during our visit to Perito Moreno.  We very much enjoyed our stay here.  We stayed in a private room with a private bathroom.  Place had everything we needed and they cleaned our rooms daily.  The breakfast was basic but good.  Above all, I enjoyed the warmth and friendliness of the staff.  They were accommodating, arranged transportation for us to get to the airport and was available to answer our questions as needed.  They seemed like honest folks.  Great budget option and would highly recommend!
