El Chalten

We stayed for about four days, staying in the cabins. Simple and very comfortable. Hugo's attention is excellent, always prepared for any consultation. It is better in the outskirts but not inconvenient as the village is quite small, the good thing is that the Fitz Roy Trail is very close. We will definitely stay there again on our next visit.

An ideal place to stay in the Chalten.

We stayed between October 27th and November 1st of this year.From the time we arrived at the property, the reception was like getting to a friend, Hugo, who welcomed us in an excellent way!.A very clean and cozy place.A comfortable and well-equipped cabin.We had gratas chats and amenas discussions with our host (Hugo). ILA and MOTA made great friends, SOMBRA, CHUBI and CIRO, 3 dogs who live in the property.We stayed 4 days and without a doubt one of the best travel experiences was with my hippie experiences.We went hiking very early in the morning and they stayed alone resting in the cabin, arriving at home and then eating gratas from the same game in the yard of the property.

Excellent visit and host.

First, be careful because if you read the good review, there are only talking about the private Bungalow. Which I didn't stay in. 

On the other hands, the dorms are very cheap (not the price as you can found way better for the same price).

There were lockers and beds are ok but quite old. Bathroom's door doesn't close and barely shut. The kitchen is ok, do the job.

Staff are super nice and you get welcome by dogs and chickens. 

It's quite dirty... 

Well, you can find better for a better price.. 

Carefull dorms vs private bungalows ! 

Located on the outskirts of the Chaltén, it is very close to the trails of the Fitz Roy and the Chorrillo del Salto.Being the Chaltén an expensive village, this will be one of the cheapest accommodations you can find and the price ratio is very good.The rooms are comfortable and include the bathroom in it.Clean and with good heating for the nights.The lodging is managed by a pleasant family with two dogs, notably Hugo, the hostel owner.Attentive, with a great knowledge of the mountains surrounding the place, willing to help.I have a very good memory of several conversations I had with him.The Chaltén is a special accommodation and contributes to making it a little more comfortable.

And the desire to return.

The hostel is in the outskirts of the town but the town itself is very small. Rooms are of adequate size, beds are not very comfy and they screak a lot. One of the lockers was torn down (but at least there were lockers near each bed). 
The big problem was the bathroom: the door had no lock and it could not be even closed properly because it would jam. Faucets were faulty and very hard to close, especially the one for hot water in the shower, which once opened took me a couple of minutes of tinkering to close. The toilet was a little faulty too. 
Cleanliness was decent but could be better overall. We did not use the kitchen, it seemed basic but overall functional. 
Notwithstanding, the staff is kind and helpful. Also the prices are a little cheaper than the average for El Chalten (which is not cheap at all).

Some maintenance would be needed

Among the cheapast places in El Chalten so my expectations were not so high. But it was worse then expected. Dirty room and bathroom. Dirty tables in the communal area. Old (but clean) sheets and very old and hard 
mattress. Friendly family though. I could be a nice place if the clearing was better. 

Cheap but dirty

The hostel is staffed by its owners, super friendly people, always ready to help and guide you. the owner's wife works at the bus terminal, which made it easier to buy tickets and also to know the departure times of the buses. the owner for others says that he is a great character! you want to go back there because they treat you very well, it is a great family...asados, mates at night, chats everything comes together to have a good time. despite having travelled alone I felt very comfortable, I met two divine people with whom I still keep in touch (Camila and her mother Carolina). the hostel is located near the beginning of the Torres del Fitz Roy and Cerro trail.

Should I tell you that I want you back?....

The hostel, as it sells itself, is a family home. The attention at all times is very good, the owner is a character and very good at answering questions about the place and/or hostel. Sleeping in a room for 6 people super comfortable, clean and with bathroom in it. The bathroom as well as the room were very clean, with paper and soap. the room had several extra blankets although it did not pass cold and the beds were very comfortable. It is the most warm you can find in the place.

Warm and beautiful.

In the hostel live the owners, a pleasant and cozy family, they lent us snow accessories and gave us tips and maps, good heating and private bathrooms.

It was brilliant!

Our booked beds were not occupied when we arrived, but we arrived late. The host was excellent, he told us everything and showed us, patiently explained to us where the track exits were, what the most beautiful ones were, what the road was and how long it took. In the kitchen guests can cook, the internet is good, if you don't have your device, you can use the hostel's computers. There are individual cabinets. The hostel has dogs, but they are very nice and friendly. Hot water and clean laundry. Everything is great.
