It was a bit hard to find the place at first and no local seems to have heard about it. Once you found it, you'll be welcomed as family. Had a walk around the block With María showing me directions to everywhere I would need to go. This couple is really easy going and their mother is just lovely. If I ever had to come back, I wouldn't need to think twice where I'd be staying. That is where I'll be staying again

Alejandro and his wife are the owners of the hostel. I walked to the hostel at night and at no point did it feel unsafe, eventhough the area might seem otherwise at first. The hostel it self is not what I am used to but is more than enough if you are just looking for a place to sleep. Generally I reccomend to go there.

Perfect place for a budget trip

I had the best time here! Jose, Mary, and their family are all so lovely and wonderful. They stopped by to chat one night and were so helpful with certain tips about goings-on throughout the island and what would be the best course of action for planned excursions. I love Abuela and Nolan! Jose helped me make arepas and Mary was always so sweet and helpful. I had the best time ever here and met the most amazing people... I miss this place so much. <3 God bless all my friends <3

Best Weekend Ever

Perfect location, close to lots of small local restaurants, supermarkets and some cute beaches.
Alejandro the owner is very helpful. He will walk you around the neighborhood, give you lots of interesting ideas and pick you up/drop you off at the airport for 15$ one way (not per person), instead of taking a taxi that will cost you more than 30$ one way. We checked in early and checked out late, we were still able to leave our bags at the hostel plus take a shower after a day at the beach even after we checked out. Very clean rooms and toilets. The kitchen is cozy, you can cook and use the fridge. We will defenitly stay at this hostel again 


The owner Alejandro was super helpful 

Efficient, clean, hole-in-the-wall sleeping quarters, centrally located in downtown, near the police station, about a ten minute walk to an ATM, and a twenty-minute walk to the bus station.

Fast internet with conveniently located electrical outlet.  Room air conditioner, locker, access to kitchen and cold drinking water, access to toilet and shower.

Be aware that the place is tiny, with no elbow room.  Bring your own soap and towels.

Efficient hole-in-the-wall

My first time staying in a hostel, place is clean, the guy that owns it very friendly and helpful. Couldn’t ask for a more centrally based place to sleep. I met some incredibly nice people that I would not have interacted with if I’d have stayed in a hotel. Only downside was if your a light sleeper might be hard to fall asleep from the snoring.  I’d stay here again, just bring earplugs.

I had a great stay, it's in a safe and easy to access area, close walk to lots of food and the water, and Jose and his wife are AMAZING but there are a few things to note for the TYPICAL hostel hopper
1- there is one 4 bed room and one private room, you are essentially staying in a family's extra bedroom. 
2- they have a small fridge for them and you to share, and they will make every effort to accommodate your things, it was just surprisingly small
3- you will live like a true islander, cold shower, slow tap, and no big party scene
4- you might be alone the whole time - one of my favorite things about hostels is meeting other people and getting a new group of friends, in this case I was there for a week and met 2 lone travelers for one night each and one guy who seems to work there in exchange for room and board
5- as clearly advertised, no free food. Go to the frutería for food/shampoo/ lotion, you won't get as ripped off as everywhere else. 1/4 of prices seriously 
6- the family is incredibly kind, and there for anything you need. You're more a guest of the amazing couple than a hostel stayer. 
7- CASH ONLY. you cannot pay for remainder of your stay in credit card.


Hostel like, not same experience

Safety of the area is questionable.  The owner was nice and approachable, though as we drove to the hostel, it was located in an isolated alley way with no visible lights at night.  I had some concerns and asked about the area but he immediately became closed off and aloof.  He claimed that it is safe and people walk around at 4am with no issues, but it was hard to sell that point as he showed me around the area and we stood beside a store that had the front door glass shattered, a visible break-in that happened before.  

The room was fairly small with 2 bunk beds for 4 total beds in one room, though my expectations weren't high for a hostel.  There was a kitchen and small fridge.  Bathroom was decent with shower - unsure if there was a lock on the door.

I did a fair amount of research before heading to Aruba given the history of missing people in the news.  Online reviews said that Aruba is safe for travel.  After I got to the hostel, I immediately grabbed my suitcase and took the bus to the tourist heavy area of Palm Beach in Noord where I felt completely safe and spent my week there.  When you head away from the tourist area, you are the minority so it behooves you to stay alert and practice common sense.

Overall, this may be a great choice for those who have a overnight layover and don't want to pay a premium for a one night stay.  However, for others who are looking for a backpacking experience or for female or family travelers, I would suggest to look elsewhere.
