Sitting here now having soda and lime with a friend over a game of pool. Our drinks were taken while we played pool. Asked the manager if he knew what happened he said don't carry on like a Turkey, it's only half a beer left, don't come here with attitude. Sweaty drunk manager needs firing. Never will come here again and give these clowns my money. Local.Executive Chef mate and GM now will tell the world about you. 6pm....today....

For any families out there...I would not recommend this place. It's completely my fault for not realising the word 'Backpackers' was on the sign. They only $15 meals - which included a beer, cider, wine or soft drink...which is great value for backpackers, but it was a fairly ordinary basic meal. The toilets were revolting, and the dining tables were laid out like a bootcamp dining hall. I think it's embarassing for Australia to offer such a mediocre environment even for backpackers who would have lower expectations than me. We were the only people silly enough to bring kids and couldn't wait to get out of there. It's definitely not a family venue.

Didn't stay there but we had dinner a couple of times. $15 meal deal including drink was very good value and the food was great! Well cooked and well presented. Recommend to anyone! Being a 'backpackers'  hostel do not expect crystal but the meals were worth it.

So we didn't stay here but ate multiple times at the bar and grill. We walked the Main Street and with 3 kids, 13, 11 and 9 struggled to find a cheap meal and somewhere kids could go. We walked past Beaches and didn't think kids would be allowed in but they were and with the huge menu of $15 meals with drinks included how could we go wrong? Gluten free options kept the wife happy and the party's and nachos kept the kids quiet and full. Live music playing was a bonus and we even played pool as a family which is really hard to find at home on the Gold Coast. Staff were really friendly and helpful. $75 and we all ate like kings and had a great time. Definitely if you have a family don't walk past this place and pass cause of backpackers. It just adds to the atmosphere and you will be glad you went there.

Restaurant was great for families

Rooms here and pretty average and bathrooms a little grotty but the maker of this place is the huge bar attached to it. If staying at the hostel you get $7 meals including steak which was lovely and drinks are a fair price!
Ignore the picture of the pool, that definitely isn't there anymore
