I didnt stay at the Manta Lodge Hostel, but I took the Open Water Diver course with these guys, so I can't say much about the hostel beyond that everything looked quite clean and comfy.
The diving course was great. I came in never having dived before, and you could tell from everyone there that these guys love their sport/job and want to share it with others. We didn't have the best conditions with rain causing serious issues for visibility, but our instructor Taylah still managed to get us out there, taught us all the necessary skills, get our diving certs done, and made me feel perfectly safe throughout. And we also managed to see a handful of nice ocean critters along the way regardless :)
All around great vibes, and I'm sure if the weather had been a little better, the experience would have been even more memorable. As it stands, I'll definitely keep Manta Lodge in mind, in case I ever come back to the east coast of Australia, to get a proper chance at seeing some mantas in the wild with these guys!
If you do go, don't be like me, but allow for some buffer days, in case the weather isn't optimal. The folks here clearly want to offer divers the best experience they can and seem quite flexible in rescheduling dives if the weather isn't playing along!

Great Diving School, Great Vibes!

We were apprehensive about booking into a hostel but the room was spacious, clean and well equipped.  We didn't love the bed; a double with one over bunk but it wasn't a deal breaker. The staff were helpful and friendly, the position was great and the 'social room' was at the other end of the hostel so we had a quiet night. We would recommend it.

I have no clue about the lodge itself BUT the team taking care of the diving are top rate. This is a very well run operation. The processes and procedures are spot on, the skippers and DMs enthusiastic and engaging. The beach entry on those RIBs is tricky, as is the exit, but it was very well handled. Our DM was Santiago and he was top notch. kept an eye on us, guided well but was not overbearing (we were an experienced group). So well done to James and the whole team. We'll be back.

Excellent Professional Dive Operation run by a top notch crew.

We spent 4 nights at Manta Lodge. As keen divers the set up is perfect, walk downstairs from our private hostel room, kit up & jump on the dive boat.

The dive crew were amazing! James is a super skilled skipper and even in the rougher conditions we had this week, he was as calm as a sea cucumber. All dives were guided and really safe ratios of divers to guide.

Soup and snacks were provided between dives & jackets to keep us warm in the wind.

The diving was great. We knew we’d picked a bad weather weekend and the team contacted us ahead of time to warn re the weather which was really appreciated. But we still had a great time diving & saw plenty.

The hostel set up is great. The massive kitchen and common areas were great to chat with other travellers & chill out with a game of pool.

We loved our time and will definitely be back!

Great set up and brilliant team!

A wonderful place to stay. Family friendly hostel, great facilities and areas outside and inside. Clean and nice place. You stay is practically on the beach. You can join snorkeling, diving and diving courses. The walks on the beach is incredible, the sunset is amazing. Great place to surf on the waves. Koalas and kangaroos around in the area. So much to explore and a great place to chill. Love this hostel and island.  

A wonderful place 

Highly recommend if you’re looking for a cheap local experience or wanting to dive/snorkel. 

Stayed for 3 nights at the hostel in a shared room. Room was clean, bathrooms also clean, shared kitchen was fully equipped (except for a can opener). All other tenants were respectful. Essentially quiet by 10pm, most people out early for diving/snorkeling.  

Great location being right on the beach. Few restaurants/cafes 10-15 mins walk. Scooter hire also close by if you want to take trips to other parts of the island. 

Highly recommend the taking a dive as well. The staff are incredibly passionate and knowledgeable. 

Manta lodge will always be special to me as I come back every year for either snorkeling or diving.

Clean, relaxing and respectful

If you are looking for a beautiful and comfortable hostel, awesome staff, wonderful beaches and astonishing dives, this is the place! Enjoy the island's natural wonders and meet nice people! Positive vibes!!

OMG! It's a must!!

Not much to say wrong about this trip.
Everything is nice and professional, awesome with hot outdoor showers after the dive.
Instructors were kind, gear was good, and the sites are really beautiful. :D

Scuba: Professional and kind instructors - good scuba experience

Recently stayed one night in 4-bed mixed dorm and a double dive the next morning. Very professional crew and service, equipment well maintained and lovely soup and snacks while out on the boat. Bonus warm water showers for after the dive too! The hostel was clean and quiet. Great location.

Great hostel, great staff, great dive shop

I'm not really a review writer but for an awesome stay, an awesome review will be in place. My plan was on staying here for a week but the weather changed so I decided to book a last minute on the weekend. The weather was great and I was really glad to see a room available on Booking.com as everything was sold out on the island. After one of the most easiest and fastest check ins I experienced, I felt already home. The hostel is near the beach, really a 2 minute walk. You can even hear the waves from the room! Furthermore, the kitchen and facilities are good for the hostel and the price is awesome. I even got a chance to dive with my diving license. Johannes (diving instructor) and the other instructors made sure to help me correctly and gave clear instructions for some refreshing knowledge. We even got lucky to see some manta's, turtles and whales who were communicating under water. I'll never forget this.
