From the moment we arrived, we were greeted warmly. We were delighted with how quiet and comfy not only the room but we had the whole place to explore with beautiful courtyards, little sitting areas to relax in. Such a charming place, highly recommend. Thankyou Jenny and snugglycat for a beautiful relaxing stay! Special note, the beds were so comfortable slept like a log. Amd the breakfast, fantastic! 

Best comfy stay Ever 

Very friendly greeting from Jenny on arrival, making us feel immediately welcome within her home. Provided us with a quick view of where guest lounges, dining facilities and rooms were located. From this it became immediately apparent that the homestead had a significant history, and furnishings throughout added considerable character in keeping within its era.
The room was cozy, but still adequate, and contained a large, amazingly comfortable bed. The availability of guest lounges compensated very well for anyone wishing to simply stretch out and read or watch television.
The bathroom was of a small size, but again perfectly adequate, with its only fault being a lower than usual shower head.
Breakfast was an absolute delight, with a large array of Continental options available. Certainly, enabling a very decent start to the day.
Jenny was a great hostess and was always ready to provide whenever required and willing to share stories of both the home, its previous guests (discreetly) and attractions within the general area.
The township is also an interesting place to wander through.
A fabulous place to stay, and a return visit would certainly be considered if back in the area.

Historical Ambience

Easy to find, plenty of parking space available, very interesting old converted hospital! The weather was wet and cold so the wood burning stove was lit and Jenny had the heater on in our room so it was nice and toasty on arrival. I sat in the sitting room with the fire warming my feet and read my book, there was low music on and it was very relaxing. The bedroom was a good size with an ensuite. The bed was comfortable and plenty of pillows/cushions. The breakfast next morning was lovely, I had scrambled eggs on toast, there was orange juice and different tea, coffee available. There was extra bread for toasting and premade granola with yogurt and dried fruit for afterwards. There were a couple of different cereal choices too. I wish I could have spent another night there so I could sit in the cinema room, wide range of dvds available to watch. I found the place clean, safe and comfortable.

Welcoming and cosy

We had a beautiful stay at Butler’s Guesthouse, which we used as a base to explore the region, including the Great Ocean Road. Butler’s feels very homely and is full of interesting knick knacks and comfortable spaces to explore. My favourite was the cinema room which features a home theatre setup with classic cinema memorabilia and a wide range of DVDs. Our family room was spacious and can be separated into 2 rooms for families of 4, giving teens some privacy from their parents if desired. It is worth noting that Butler’s only welcomes guests aged 12 and over.

Welcoming and homely

For many years a hospital, then a  nursing home, now a rambling old-style guest house.  

The plumbing is a little cranky, but that didn't detract from a very comfortable overnight stay.  Jenny and Ross were most welcoming and helpful, and served up a great breakfast in the morning.

We also took advantage of the spa tub after a long bike ride.  And we would have had a couple of games of pool if time had permitted.

Quaint and comfortable

My husband and I spent a night here before a lunch at Brae Restaurant nearby.

We much prefer staying at B&B’s because they have so much more character and fun, and this was no different!

From the moment you arrive there is just so much to see and do, we had a beautiful stay!

We arrived at about 5pm on a Saturday evening after first heading into Coles in Colac (about a 29 minute drive) to collect some drinks, cheese, meats, etc. to make a dinner platter and enjoy a night in. We started with a few games of pool in the billiard room (then a few more) before borrowing a quick book from the library and having a relax. We then put the dinner platter together and sat in the back lounge and watched some soccer on tv. Then a few board games before preparing our dessert and heading into the theatre to watch a movie! All of these things are included just part of a fantastic stay.

The rooms were basic and older, but had everything you could possibly need, a comfortable bed, a bathroom that works, and everything clean.

The stay included breakfast between 8-9am which was a small continental help yourself (orange juice, milk, cornflakes, just right, toast and condiments and a variety of percolated coffee and tea). You’re then also offered a cooked breakfast of bacon, eggs, toast and tomatoes. We had our eggs poached which tasted amazing and fresh and another couple had scrambled and fried and added some avocado on the side, so there are options!

Highly recommend the stay for a non-pretentious and super relaxed stay with plenty to do!

Beautiful, Cosy & Homely

Butler House is s 100 year old building which has several iterations over time including use as a hospital and age care facility.
It is full of period furniture bric a brac and objet d’art. There are many nooks and crannies to explore in the house; too many for our short stay. However, we did enjoy the use of the guests lounge.
Our room was basic but had all the facilities you need for an overnight stay.
We had a nice breakfast to see us on our way.
Our hosts were friendly and caring, we particularly appreciated that our room had been warmed on this really wet and cold Victoria winters day

Just the Spot

This guest house used to be a hospital and a nursing home. It has that feel about it with ramps and handrails. The owners have decorated the place with a range of interesting furniture and collectables. It’s in a very quiet location. I stayed over a wintry couple of days. My  room was very comfortable and warm, although the rest of the guest house was a bit cool. A breakfast including bacon eggs was included in the price.

Comfortable and wuiet

The Butler Guesthouse is a few minutes out of the village of Birregurra. It can accommodate 14 guests comfortably. The house is usually fully booked on weekends, so book early, The house is full of knick-nacks, which are quite charming. The beds are comfortable. The lounge has a juke box playing 1960s and '70s music. It also has several well-padded armchairs. There's also a pool room. A satisfying continental breakfast is provided. The house is 5 minutes' walk from BIrregurra's main street.

Comfortable guesthouse has memories of yesteryear

I'd left our booking late and I finally found a room at Butler. Hosts Jenny and Ross and excellent, with Ross giving us a lift to and from Brae restaurant (the purpose of our visit). Great accommodation with a lot of history and collectables. Everything is tidy and well-maintained.
