We attended a 3 day wedding extravaganza in this beautiful part of Australia  A number of our party stayed at Mobys.  What a wonderful resort.  Individual "beach houses" just a short walk from Blueys/Boomerang beach. Spacious and super clean units.  Very basic but super comfy everything you need for in suite dining in well stocked kitchen.  Great cold/hot HVAC system.  It was chilly so we used the HEAT setting and it did a great job!   The grounds are stunning.  Trees, birds, turkeys.  One feels a sense of "Garden of Eden".  Wonderful tennis court and pool with warm spa kept the kids very happy.  Check in staff pleasant.  We had a "slow drain" issue that was promptly attended to. 

Perhaps the most pleasant surprise was the quality of the food at SIPS the on site restaurant. Absolutely first rate. Breakfast is fresh and delicious. Dinner was as good as any top Sydney eatery and 1/2 the price! The fish is SO fresh.  We enjoyed grilled Kingfish one night and it was sublime. The chef/owner [not sure] is a super nice chap. Happy to chat about the locally line caught fish, the menu and anything else. Staff are the best.  So sweet and helpful and kind. Coming all the way from Toronto we are used to sour, puss-faced miserable servers who truly delight in abusing paying guests. Not here!! In general - the service industry staff in Australia appears to be so happy and upbeat and proud of what they do.  Very true of SIPS staff. What a tonic.  SIPS is truly a first rate dining experience at very very modest prices. A very good reason to select MOBYS for lodgings...nice to have fine cuisine a short stroll away!

Fantastic value in a tropical setting

Our first stay at Mobys and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this great spot for a family getaway or special celebration weekend. Our booking for three two bedroom villas for 6 couples was handled promptly with no problems. The villas were clean well appointed and comfortable. The proximity to the beach and nearby Blueys was also a plus.

Great weekend getaway

Really comfortable and secluded beach cabins with onsite parking.  The hosts were welcoming and provided great information on the places to visit which was very helpful.  Seal rocks is worth a visit to see if you can see the whales(between May to Nov).  I have booked two nights but could have  easily stayed longer.  The cabins are well laid out and set up with all the cooking utensils and dishes you need.  Comfortable and warm bedding and clean bathrooms.  The nearby Boomerang beach was beautiful and great for mornings walks to catch the sunrise.  Note there is no WIFI (only available at reception) and no mobile reception so very suitable for total disconnection.  The lakeside road was a bit bumpy due to the potholes from recent rain.  We were fortunate the rain stopped the day earlier the flood water receded enough for us to get to the resort using the Lake Side road.  I would definitely go back when the weather warms up a bit more.  There a really good and reasonably priced restaurant and cafe within the resort worth trying.  Dinner booking is needed.

Total relaxation and secluded getaway

We loved our 2 bed, 2 bath cottage. It was well appointed with a lovely deck, new appliances and furniture. It’s a really kid friendly resort while still being a good experience for adults. Unfortunately Sips was closed due to covid but it looked promising. The pool was great. The north end of Boomerang beach is patrolled and lovely. The Blueys shops are great! Couldn’t recommend more highly and we are already booked for next year!

Fantastic stay at Moby’s

We last stayed here about 9 years ago and the cabin looks like it has not been upgraded since. Fly screens coming off the window, scratched bathroom fittings, pots not cleaned and generally shabby. I hope after a bumper summer of local tourism the management can upgrade the accommodation as it is no longer good value
Otherwise it is a cute place to stay snd near the beaches and local shops, 25 min to Forster

Nice resort needs an upgrade

Pretty pricey for the type of accommodation but in a great position. Stayed there because of the resort facilities but get this.........You can use the resort facilities if you use the restaurant or bar. That's it....stay somewhere cheaper and come and use their pool and tennis court for free.

Mobys Hack

Well the Beach house stunk of mushrooms still in the drain of the sink the floor was dirty.  The hole resort is tired desperately needs a refresh.  Watch your car there kids on bike scratched the car.  We will not be back for a over priced dirty beach house.  Which is a pity because we have been going there for over 20 years always been beautiful must be a new manager. 

Quick getaway 

Clean and tidy family resort - well set out, if somewhat busy.  Really close to the beaches and a quick walk to Bluey’s village. Staff really friendly. 

However, don’t go there if you want a peaceful break without children running around. 

The cafe at the resort is not run by the resort and a bit hit and miss. We brought our own food for meals, which worked well - and we saw one family get Home Delivery Woolworths which was a great idea. 

Lovely Easter 🐣 

I checked Moby's own website carefully and I was really impressed by the glamour shots of the bedrooms, kitchens, bathrooms. Wow, looked very good.  Based on those impressive photos I booked for 2 nights and paid $400 for a one bedder for a weekend getaway.  I stayed in #17, it is a disable accessible unit which I didn't ask for.  I will be honest, the location is pretty good, but it has a caravan vibe, not that there is anything wrong with a caravan site.  It's just the word retreat threw me off !

Pro: It is close to the beach which is great, and it has very good hot water. I mean, it is properly hot.  Also the bath towels are white and fluffy.

The accommodation itself made my hair stand.  Every blind in #17 has multiple mouldy patches. They are not stains, they are dots of hairy moulds !  The walls are mouldy adjoining laundry and bedroom, the seal of fridge is black and mouldy, the bedside lamp shades are mouldy, the dryer is rusted inside, the bathroom fan had a layer of dust that no one has cleaned for ages.  I just don't know if I was given the absolute worst unit or every other unit is just mouldy.  I think some units must have been renovated by the look of those official photos, but unlucky for me, not mine.  I was so uncomfortable staying in a mouldy unit that I decided to forfeit the prepaid second night and checked out after just one night. I didn't want to get sick from inhaling more mould.  If you are lucky, you might get a room that looks as good as on their official website, but as in Q1 of 2021, #17 is to be avoided if health and comfort is important to you.

The mould really bothered me

I really enjoyed my three nights at Moby’s. 
I had read people’s reviews about not many food options so we did a food shop it port Stephens. There isn’t any big grocery stores close by so I would stock up before getting to town. 
The cabins have a kitchen so you are able to cook. 
There is food options though. The restaurants at Moby’s sip was great , drift cafe  and kembali. 
There is lots of little cabins on the property but they have designed it well so you have privacy. 
My phone didn’t have any coverage and there is no wifi. This was nice for me to completely zone out. 
Staff are very friendly and helpful. 
Great place for families and couples. 
Beautiful surrounding places to visit. Highly recommend seal rocks! 
I would love to visit Moby’s again one day!
