We were impressed with the space of the accomodation

It really is great value.

Location is great for a family, close to the beach and also a nice public playground.

Pub just up the road for meals and away from the highway so no noise.

Ownership is low key but friendly

The outside looked a little more run down than we expected, however the inside was clean and well set up and the owner was fantastic. Happy to accommodate us in anyway he can. Place is close to Queen Beach and the hotel. Comfortable and clean bedding and bathroom.

Great place

Disgusting is an understatement.
My room was filthy. Vomit on the toilet wall and ants all over it. A huge crack in the bathroom wall and paint peeling in shower.
TV didn’t work
Screen door didn’t lock
The list goes on

I wish I had read other reviews before booking

I would never stay here again and do not recommend wasting your money here

Worst I have ever ever ever ever

Dirty smelly rooms, pool was cloudy and green disgusting 
NOTHING LIKE PICTURES ONLINE 
Don’t stay here it was a huge disappointment for us
Except for a pub nothing else close by, centre of town and any other places were 10 min plus drive away 
Massive letdown

Horrible

Very disappointed! They took the full payment from our account before we even got there despite having agreed to pay on arrival
The manager never came to see us even though they agreed this would happen the next day
Didn’t haven enough towels for everyone and many kitchen items were missing, there wasn’t even a knife to prepare dinner in the kitchen
The unit was in very poor condition and the hot water service in the cupboard was propped with timber blocks in the cupboard to stop it falling through to the floor
Would not recommend 
Would give 0 stars if that were an option

Disgraceful!!!!!!!!

I am glad I paid extra for the superior room….the google reviews and photos on accommodation sites are very misleading.  This place is tied, many items broken and (forget the house rules) the other units are noisy (late and early).  On a positive note - the shower was good.

The unit is overseen from a remote manager i.e. they are not on site to aid in resolving problems.  On my stay I opened the kitchen cupboards to find several, large, dead cockroaches near the dinnerware, the lights in one room did not work, there were food stains on the kitchen bench, the back door was opened and there was no key to lock it, the unit had an empty beer cap on the top of the short fridge i.e. it was clearly there for the cleaners to find, the front door was a ranchslider which opened into the open plan lounge/dining/kitchen room - the curtain to cover the glass was coming off the rails and only covered half the window.  Was offered an upgrade to another motel owned by the same group- the unit looked better but on inspection the toilet seat was raised as if just used by a male person - too little for attention to detail for my liking.

literally booked than realised that I'd booked the wrong year, emailed them half an hour later to advise of my mistake, no reply for almost a week, I than rung them direct and after backwards and forwards between them and booking.com, he wont let me cancel without paying a cancellation fee of $60
told me his hands are tied and he cant do anything because of the owners rules. well that's a load of bshizz, I work in the hotel/resort industry and even a receptionist could just waive the fee and cancel it off, he just wants free money. absolutely disgusting

There should be NO stars for this appalling place, just as well the photos aren't smell sensitive. I agree with other reviews that the pictures used to advertise this hole are not accurate. We took a loss on this and stayed at Coral Cove which is truely amazing

Disgusting

I treated my granddaughter to one night at this location. When she arrived , she could not find  Reception and from what she saw of the establishment, it looked filthy  so she could not find anyplace else so is now driving back to Townsville. She has travelled extensively and said she has been in some dives but expected this to be decent and at least clean. I ha e just wasted money for nothing because there is a cancellation policy that to get refund, the cancellation had to be prior to  12 March.  I had read reviews and most were favorable, only a few were negative. This weekend is our family reunion and celebrating my mother's 90th birthday. So instead of joining in celebrations tomorrow my granddaughter will ne back home. family have stayed at Whitsunday Sands several times and love,it there however it was booked out, I made this booking, believing it would have been of similar standard. I like to promote Bowen, the establishments need to have a high standard to attracts people to return and to be recommended. What a shame this has not been the case this time.
