I booked a night at Rainforest Retreat for my partner and I after seeing it pop up on Facebook a lot. I’m so glad we did! 

Our cabin was beautiful. We seemed to be the only ones there as well so it made it just that bit more peaceful. The area outside the cabins was all well kept and the little dam outside had little fish in there too! 

Warren was so lovely and accommodating! We booked the cabin with dinner and breakfast included which was so worth it! Both meals were large portions and delicious. 

10/10 for our stay and will definitely be back again with a group of friends as this would be perfect for a small group weekend away! Thank you so much Warren for our stay!

Serene Retreat

Beautiful setting in the rainforest garden. Excellent hosts Jean and Warren were very welcoming and hospitable. Meals were delicious and generous. Well priced food and drinks. We will definitely return and we plan to organize a group booking in the future. 

Lunch 

Our local family members always have lunch at the Ranch and again it was lovely.
Great food, Great setting and very friendly staff.
A bit  of drive out of town it was worth the effect.
Recommend the Ranch Burger for a Great meal.

2018 Visit for Lunch

Not many places open for lunch on Good Friday - but a check phone call confirmed that we would be welcome at this out-of-town location.  Made to feel very welcome on arrival despite bring two boys under 5 with us!   The food arrived quickly - beautifully presented and tasted great.  Yes the music was country and western but that is the theme of the place and was quite enjoyable for a change.

Relaxed rainforest setting with welcoming hosts

If you are a country music fan, then your ranch cabin will be wonderful. You will appreciate the country music style décor. The swinging saloon toilet doors and big bath will remind you of a western movie. The cabin was clean and you will love the open space, slate tile floors and wooden finish. Cabin 1,2 and 3 are near the pub and grill. Cabins 4,5 and 6 are more private away from the pub hidden in the trees. You will be entertained by live music over the weekend and be part of the festive pub vibe. On a weekend you would not need to cook food as the grill provides breakfast, lunch and dinner. Your comfortable bed is only 10m away from the bar and live music. 

This is not a luxury honeymoon cabin with a spectacular mountain view in a beautiful rainforest. It is on the owners home property overlooking a small pond. The king size bed is wonderful and the cabin has a decent air conditioner. It is open plan and so you have no privacy when using the toilet, shower or bath. The windows around the bed have no curtains or blinds, however the plants outside do help block the view into the cabin. A small curtain would be nice. I would suggest using the pub toilet if you do not want to disturb your partner, or need a number 2.  The cabin has no hanging space at all. Your clothes will stay in your suitcase on the floor or sofa during your stay. The TV is tiny with no Foxtel, however you may prefer the large TV in the pub. The cabin has no internet or wifi and so you will need to use your own data. Telstra and Optus worked fine on the first night however was very slow the second night. My Telstra modem worked better than Optus data however bandwidth went up and down and was 2.5 mb max. Apple Music worked well so bring a Bluetooth speaker. 

Our cabin had a few items in the fridge when we arrived, however no price list of the items so not used. The local shop is 2 km down the road and has enough items to make breakfast and dinner, however expensive (It is closed after 4 pm). It would be great if you were given a discount voucher to use the shop when you arrive, especially if the ranch grill is closed. I would strongly suggest you buy food items before your stay and bring a cool box with ice bricks. The kitchen is basic, however does have a 2 burner gas stove which worked well. I bought a frying pan in Yeppoon as the kitchen only had pots. The kitchen is usable however not wonderful. You do not not need it if you buy food from the ranch grill or in Yeppoon. 

All the cabins have a log fire which would be great during winter. This with the huge bath and a good bottle of wine would be romantic. Bring your own bath salts, bubble bath or oil. The cabin needs a mop as the bath does flood onto the floor. It would be wonderful if the cabin had a more romantic touch. A small box of chocolates when you arrive. An invitation to have a free drink with the owner at the bar. Flowers, candles and tissues would be nice. The cabin needs basic toiletry items often found in most hotels and motels. The toilet needs a sanitary bin and bags. I would have a curtain between the bathroom and bed to make it more private when needed. A rug on the floor in winter to make it really cosy and snug. The cabin has no blankets or extra bedding so bring your own, or ask the owner when you arrive. This was not a problem in January as hot.

The ranch does have a spa however was not used during my visit. It looked a bit run down and the foot paths between cabins 4,5 and 6 are overgrown. The Rainforest Range just needs a bit of love to make it an amazing stay. It is not bad at all however could be very good. The pool wooden deck needs paint and leaving old broken light fitting parts in the spa does not look good.  

You will either love your cabin or be a bit disappointed. Bringing your own food and home comforts will make your stay much better. The cabin does not lock and so security may be a problem. The Rainforest Range could be an awesome weekend for you. Just be prepared before you arrive.



An honest review – You will either love it or be let down.

What an absolute joke! My husband and I drove out expecting to be received by our hosts via our confirmed Air BNB booking. Upon arrival we were asked,"What are you doing here?" When I said we had a roomed booked, we were told, no you don't and proceeded to call us idiots and told us they were taking no blame and tried to blame us for booking through Air BNB. Hostile and arrogant and completely unprofessional.  They claimed we were idiots to use Air BNB and that we should have booked through their website. They even admitted to not cross checking their website and Air BnB bookings as that was too much work. They lied and said that it wasn't confirmed, and they then mentioned they even had a spare room, and mentioned the town we had come from, which was only disclosed in my greeting messages on the app, knowing very well then we had booked! They offered no solutions, no alternatives and told us to call air bnb as they have no control over whatever air bnb does. Clearly not understanding how this app is used. Unprofessional doesn't even explain how disgusting their behaviour was. Now our mini getaway is ruined, and the only booking available was 100km away. I will be telling ALL my family and friends to never ever go there. There is clearly a reason this business is for sale. If business is managed like this, it won't be there for much longer. So rude. All it would have taken was some compassion and kindness and we would have found a solution.

Worst experience ever! We were called idiots

My partner and I were meant to stay here for two nights but only ended up staying the one. On arrival, the owner seemed nice enough although told us booking through booking.com was silly as they’re ‘thieving pricks’ which was a bit awkward for us. We were allocated cabin 5 and drove to the cabin. The cabin itself was quite nice but had many many issues; 
- The floor was tiled and felt gritty
- The roof had many spiderwebs
- The doors, louvers and screens didn’t seal properly so the place was full of mosquitoes 
- None of the provided cutlery, mugs and plates were clean
- There was intermittent hot water in the shower if any at all. 
- The fridge while turned on never got cold
- The spa (advertised) was out of order

When we reported the fridge issue (the main problem) to the owner the following morning having realised when we went to have breakfast after our sleep in. He proceeded to get angry saying we should’ve told him the night before, blaming the humidity and telling us it wasn’t his fault. We explained that we’d only found out in the morning. We lost the refrigerated perishables we’d brought with us and while he continued to have a go at us about not telling him sooner I decided there was no way I would stay there for another night after the awful confrontation he caused. We asked for a refund for second night so we could book elsewhere and that just made him angrier and he wouldn’t let us speak. 
We packed our stuff and as we were leaving after carrying on a bit more he said he would refund the one night although it’s been two weeks and that hasn’t happened. 

I work in a hotel and understand that sometimes things just don’t meet peoples expectations but if there is a legitimate problem with the service the customer has paid for then you need to enact service recovery and make it right. 

This was an awful and upsetting experience which could have easily been sorted out if the owner was professional in his actions. I would not recommend this accomodation to anyone.
