A beautiful, friendly hostel right on the sea. Staff are super friendly and helpful and have daily activities to allow guests to get involved and meet people. The rooms were very clean and all areas were cleaned daily! The rooftop bar was full of atmosphere and a great way to start the evening before heading out. A very central location!

Best Byron Hostel

We stayed at the surf house for 5 nights during our east coast trip and it was great! The hostel doesn’t have that usual hostel feel to it and is bright, spacious and attractive when you first walk in. The location is perfect, and the facilities were great, particularly the kitchen area & rooftop! 
We were lucky enough to be given one of the more spacious dorm rooms which was even better, however the actual comfort of the rooms could be uplifted. The beds were averagely comfortable but not horrendous. There could be more showers available as there was only 3 to a corner of rooms so sometimes this caused queuing. The cleaners also cleaned the bathrooms at the prime time to wake up so we’d most of the time find ourselves having to use different bathrooms when we first woke up! 
There was always plenty activities on and you could hire surf boards free of charge, we didn’t utilise this but was a great incentive! 
Definitely the best hostel we’ve had! 9/10 from us 😁

Best hostel on the east coast!

The place is excellent and trendy and bright
Rooms were fine but not serviced daily so there is a build up of sand on floor from beach visits 
The kitchen area was spacious and well equipped clean and tidy.
It’s a very upmarket hostel ( wrong word) but as good as any hotel 
Would return again

Excellent

Amazing hostel. Celine was super friendly, smiley and helpful on reception when we arrived, helping us store our bags and checking us into our rooms. This hostel is super clean! We had a private room with a private bathroom and it felt just like staying in a hotel. The room was a great size and the bathroom was quite big too. The kitchen here is huge so don’t have to worry about getting in anyone’s way and lots of storage facilities in cupboards and fridges. Great location. Definitely recommend. 

Amazing place !

What a little gem! Brilliant location with a fun beach vibe. It’s hostel/backpackers style accommodation, with options of having your own room with your own bathroom and balcony. I stayed in the Queen ensuite with balcony and it was perfectly comfortable, clean & cosy with fresh towels and toiletries. Underground parking is also available at $10 p/n. 
They have little roof top bar with specials and weekly activities and you also receive a complimentary drink on arrival! Aaahmazing!

Hidden Little Gem

This hostel is amazing !!! Just stayed here with my boyfriend, when we arrived they said we’ve been upgraded for free which was really appreciated after a long coach ride. The kitchen is big and cosy, it’s so clean all round and staff are so lovely. Location is perfect, couple of minutes from the beach and all the shops etc are right outside the hostel. A friend of ours stayed at the wake up and had to walk 25 mins everyday to meet us in the centre. We asked the hostel if he could come and hang out and they allowed him which was really appreciated! Lots of social stuff everyday, not to mention $5 happy hour drinks! The surf house knows how to make a backpacker happy. I would stay here again in a heartbeat, I never wanted to leave :)

Amazing!

What a beautiful hotel. The hotel has been nicely renovated, staff are friendly with great local knowledge. The roof top bar is a great spot for an afternoon drink in the sun. The hotel is in a prime location, walking distance to everything. The underground car parking is great too. We will be back !

What a location 👏🏽

We made a last minute decision to stay as there was nothing else available and we were pleasantly surprise.  It is located perfectly right in the heart on town, 100 meters from the beach, you walk out the front door and you are right in the middle of everything.  It is bright, breezing, modern and very clean., I could not fault it.  It has an enormous kitchen/common area for guest to use and a nice roof bar.   It seems to have a range of different rooms ranging from a standard two person rooms, (which we booked), to mini dormitory style set ups, the latter meaning its a relatively young crowd staying here with a youthful vibe to match.  There is undercover parking available although when staying here you don't need a car.  Staff are very friendly and helpful.  I would definitely stay here again.

A pleasant surprise

PROS: Location - right in the middle of BB town - easy to walk to the beach and dive shops. Loads of cafes, restaurants and shops surrounding the property. Staff throughout the property were very friendly and helpful. The property has a very modern coastal theme and offers great daily food/beverage discounts. They have a very well equipped communal kitchen and laundry/drying facilities just outside.

CONS: Rooms not completely sound proof so can be a challenge to sleep if you are a light sleeper like myself. Shower heads could have better water pressure and it would have been nice to have had either an extra clothes stand or a small desk and chair in the private ensuite room.

Overall, it's a great centrally based hostel/hotel that has clean and comfortable facilities with great service throughout - would definitely recommend if you want something affordable and a good base within BB, will definitely stay again!

As the title of the review says, The Surf House Byron HAS IT ALL! The location is unrivaled being right in the centre of town & you have easy access to everything.

The staff were always so welcoming & friendly, plus always keen to have a chat & because of that we always felt welcomed from the moment we walked through the door.

Make sure you take time out to use the lush Rooftop bar at some point! The free surfboard hire is such an amazing thing to offer & something you should take advantage of as the walk to the beach is only 5 minutes away!

They have on site private parking (you must pay but the price is really reasonable at $10 a day) & the cleanliness of the hostel cannot be faulted, absolutely spotless!

Incredible kitchen facilities with plenty of room to cook & store your food during your stay.

Thank you Surf House Byron for not only ticketing all the boxes but exceeding them! 

From now on this is where we will stay when we come to Byron!
