Poor hygiene & safety standards. Broken into while we were sleeping. Public toilet maintenance needs to be done as the floors are muddy & wet. Don’t expect soap or toilet paper in main public toilets as buying basic necessities aren’t in their budget. The front gate lock is hard to access as it has dirt & dust built up inside this being dangerous at night time. & just hope you’re not put into a room with live wire hanging above your head with a missing window pane.

Poorly run business.

Clean, complete and close to historic sites.   The receptionist was helpful with advice for key places to visit.   The botanic garden is a must see.   The local RSL has the best schnitzel in Northern Queensland.
  Priced right for the season.  

Good choice

I did not have a good experience here at all. I ended up sleeping in my car. 
There was yelling and fighting when I got there. Door chain was installed incorrectly and so was useless and I felt even more unsafe. If you’re a woman traveller pick somewhere else.

Unsafe for solo women travellers

Budgeting has its limits. Rooms are old small and not that clean. TV not much bigger than a postage stamp. Had a pool but not that inviting. Kitchen has a lot of burners but ma n agers dogs running under your feet is off putting. Place is for sale but I  don't think anyone would buy it. Pay a bit more and go somewhere else. 

Don't Bother

This is a very basic establishment, up for sale currently, OK for a night, maybe two, but no more. We were doing a quick visit up from Cairns so it worked for us. Clean and tidy, dripping tap, noisy ceiling fan, but electric jug and tea, iron, hairdryer, so all basics. If I went again, I'd find something better, I think.

Very basic motel needing lots of TLC

This place is dirty and in desperate need of a scrubity dub, paint and new bed clothes. The bins located near the kitchen and our room were so bad I held my nose or went around the long way to not gag. Its a shame as it was such a nice place.

Very unclean

Positioned on the edge of town. Older property in need of some renos outside. Bed was comfy and shower was great. Just about all you need for a nights stay. I know it is hard in such a windy location but the outside does need to be kept tidy. Would I stay again ? Yes. 

Okay

Stayed here for one night in one of the motel rooms (which I presume all have ensuites). Had a TV and a fantastic shower - but most of all was dead quiet and so easy to sleep. Had a small problem with the fridge unit but other than that a perfect stay. The owners are lovely and if they were located 2 blocks closer to the pub they’d get 5 stars!

Quiet!!

Pam's place is a great place to stay in Cooktown. Comfortable and clean. Pams is reasonably priced. 2 blocks to the supermarket and not to far into walk into town.The staff are really friendly and helpful.
