Beautiful stay in a rural setting, the cottage was lovely with very comfortable bed and lovely high quality furnishings. We had a sumptuous and very generous platter for dinner and breakfast hamper. Great place to stay. Unfortunately we only stayed overnight so didn’t have time for the spa and the fire pit!

Lovely rural cottage in bush setting

My husband and I stayed in the farmhouse for our wedding anniversary for three nights. It was a lovely cottage with a very peaceful outlook.
The bed was comfortable and we were welcomed with a basket with two chocolates, water, lip balm, bath salts and a candle. There was a spa off the main bedroom. It was was very relaxing sitting in the warm spa looking over the farmyard. We were given slippers and gowns to wear when we got out of the spa however we didn't use them.
There were two couches downstairs however they were very uncomfortable and gave us a sore back. We mostly sat at the dining table. The upstairs lounges were more comfortable.
The TV downstairs was set up through Telstra TV. The instructions weren't detailed enough for us to work out how to use the TV. We had to get the owner to come and show us how to work it. Live TV kept cutting in and out and was a nightmare to try to watch. We tried going through the APPS on Telstra TV like the owner told us however it said we had to sign in. We watched the small TV upstairs most of the time because it worked better. 
There was covered area out the back of the cottage with a table tennis table and a BBQ. We did enjoy a game of table tennis however the bats were all falling apart.
We wanted to use the BBQ however it wasn't very clean so we gave it a miss.
There was a breakfast hamper with bacon, eggs, butter, bread, jam, honey, yoghurt and juice. Unfortunately there was only one packet of cereal and no fruit to go with the yoghurt.
There was a full kitchen with plenty of utensils. Unfortunately quite a few of the utensils weren't clean. I wasn't happy to have to clean things to be able to use them especially as it was $233 per night on a special deal.
The frypan wasn't clean either and was also very worn out.
There was a microwave however no microwave containers to cook with.
There was a coffee machine however we didn't use it.
The lighting in the bathroom is poor. Very hard to see to do makeup.
There was no cover for the car which is really unfortunate especially as there was a hail storm one night we were there.
The property also advertised a pool however it's at the back of the owner's house so we didn't feel comfortable to use it.
This is a nice property however for the issues we experienced we felt it was overpriced.
We have stayed in quite a few bed and breakfasts over the years. This was the dearest we'd ever stayed at. It was special anniversary so we decided to spend the extra money believing we would get luxury. Unfortunately we have had more comfort and more in a breakfast hamper for a cheaper price in the past.
It is a nice property however not value for money compared to what we have experienced in the past.

Lovely farmhouse in peaceful setting. Unfortunately uncomfortable lounge. Not value.

We just stayed 3 nights in one of the little romantic cottages and it was bush luxury at its finest. Beautiful setting, quiet, peaceful and a place to disconnect. The cottage was very open plan, beautiful antique furniture, chesterfield lounge and huge four poster bed and lovely linen. Very clean and fresh. The fridge was full of excellent quality unopened condiments including yoghurt, milk, butter, OJ, fresh eggs, bacon, incredible cryovac steaks, a couple of small salads and chat potatoes. The hosts had thought of eveything - even a selection of Bago wines to purchase from the cabinet and  quality steak knives in the drawer. We had little handmade Russian chocolates on our bed from a local Chocolatier and slippers and robes for the spa. The fresh baked sourdough delivered to the door was perfect with fresh farm eggs/omelets we cooked for breakie on Day 2. Our package also included a grazing platter and wine which we requested on the last day and was blown away with the size and assortment. Did not need dinner. Spoke with Mel a couple times to suggest a hinterland walk and/or excursion and we ended up at Bago Wine and Maze which we thoroughly recommend for couples and families. Totally off the beaten track and grateful for the recommendation. Such a great place to recharge, relax and totally stay again. 

Full of little touches that made is special 

We stayed in the main cottage on the property and had a great time relaxing in the peaceful surrounds. The property was clean and spacious. Melanie was a fantastic host, with a welcome pack on arrival and breakfast provided for day one. The kids enjoyed feeding the animals each morning and playing outdoors in the big wide open spaces. Nearby there were a few attractions to drive to such as strawberry picking, the koala hospital, the lighthouse and great restaurants/cafes. Overall a fantastic stay and would definitely love to go back. 

Wonderful peaceful stay

Hosts were great, cottage was well maintained but a bit hot.Air con broken and very old. The breakfast and damper were good. Plenty of wild life. Good for overnight stay. They have a pool for guests and a sp on your front deck. Few mosquitoes around.Happy to recommend

Quit out of town spot

Last minute get away, could not have asked for more. Simply perfect! From the first moment we drove into the property, we were in awe. The Croft cottage was Devine, the welcome hamper, superb and the breakfast hampers simply the best (fresh eggs and freshly baked bread - we didn’t want to leave!). The picnic in the forest was the icing on the cake! 
Melanie and Roger are the perfect hosts, thank you, it is easy why you won the 2019 tourism award! 
We will be back, many many times!!

Blissful weekend

We chose The Telegraph Retreat as we were looking for a farm stay, but also wanted somewhere nice. We were very happy with the choice.
The cottage was lovely, with such nice touches (home made soaps, biscuits, bread, as well as comfortable beds, lounges, etc)
My daughter was taken around both afternoons to feed all of the gorgeous animals by one of Melanie's sons. He was very polite and answered our many questions.
The use of the outdoor spa and the family pool was enjoyed.
Communication with Melanie was easy and friendly, but she was definitely not in our face.
We had our daughter with us, she was on a fold out type bed near us which was fine for a couple of nights, but for longer we would have wanted somewhere with an extra room for her.
Loved it, very relaxing and felt clean and comfortable.

Fancy Farm Stay

Thank you Melanie and Rod we had a lovely stay. The fresh flowers,  fresh homemade bread, the comfy bed and the warm welcome by you both and the fireplace in the cottage.  Small little homely touches in our cottage, we were not disappointed with our stay in the Gardenia Cottage. We will recommend you to our family and friends and certainly be back for another stay when next in the area.

Lovely quiet getaway.

From the moment I booked for 2 nights (mid week) I was impressed with the level of excellent communication from Melanie. I booked online through the Telegraph Retreat site. My husband and I stayed in the Green Cottage. It was very private and so, so peaceful. We had a lovely, clean, spa on our verandah to enjoy as well as a wonderful wood burning fire inside. The facilities are great: a very comfortable bed with lots of pillows to choose from, a big shower that has great water pressure, a bath to relax in, a comfy lounge to watch the fire (or television), a bbq on the back deck to cook your own steaks (if you are so inclined to bring them), amazing home made bread delivered warm to your door before breakfast to go with farm fresh eggs already provided in our fridge, coffee pods for the coffee machine (my favourites are white chocolate ones and guess what was included in the selection provided....Melanie you are a mind reader!), milk, orange juice, bacon, strawberry jam, butter.....so many extras included that go a long way to make your break away special. I could easily have stayed longer than 2 nights.

Excellent service, so relaxing. I want to still be there.

Fantastic 4 night stay where you can enjoy the countryside in a beautiful old world charm 2 story cottage. Crisp and freshly smelling linen, slippers and thick terry toweling robes to wrap yourself into after you emerge from a hot soak in the verandah spa. Wander around the grounds amongst the flora and fauna and forget about the city congestion. A lovely spot to relax and totally unwind for all ages.
