This was a surprise for my wife who had no clue as to our destination suffice to say that she enjoyed every minute of the experience.
Under the expert guidance of Head Chef at Peel Street restaurant Phil Helyard our Thai cooking experience was turned into a great evening of fun and cooking. Split into 3xteams all trying to achieve that perfect taste extrvaganza. Entree and main course were served with wines which flowed generously and complemented the prepared meals. Can highly recommend this cooking experience even for the novice like me!
From there it was on to our Bali themed villa which was fitted out with every imaginable gadget and comfort. Everything was catered for from scented candles to upmarket toiletries. You wanted for nothing. We will be back.

Next Level Cooking Class and Luxury Accommodation

My wife and I stayed for one night in the “Bali” villa.  Very modern and everything you would want for a relaxing stay.  The location is very quiet although I did wake up around 5am to birds singing outside but went back to sleep immediately. We were provided breakfast provisions and a bottle of wine which was greatly appreciated.  We also attended the cooking school which was enjoyable.  Highly recommend.

Great accommodation.

My husband and I had multiple recent occasions to celebrate and wanted a trip away from our little darlings. I found sticky rice online and seem to meet our need to have a restful break away. With Covid restrictions in place and finding somewhere to stay with an on-site restaurant was tough.
Sticky rice was perfect we took advantage of a package where you create a three course meal and a night in a villa. My husband and I are not the best cooks so I was a little worried but the staff and Yuki put us at ease from the beginning. Somehow we made a tasty lunch with lots of laughs.

The villa was very clean and was perfect. It was romantic, secluded and intimate. We had brought some food with us so we did not need the villa. It was a restful evening and night and gave my husband and I quality time together.

We would really recommend sticky rice for a great and different break away and close to Adelaide CBD. The staff were relaxed and caring. Yuki was knowledgeable and adapted the recipe for my dislike of very spicy food. The villa was comfortable and well equipped.

A wonderful experience

We could not have asked for a better experience. We had a private cooking class during the day with Chef Yukkiko. This was perfect, Yuki was fun, patient and so knowledgable. The food we made was amazing, and the experience of cooking and dining was indulgent. We have already recreated one of the recipes. We then stayed the night in Villa Yoko. The villa was incredible, better than the photos and very romantic. Overall we found the staff to be incredibly amazing and thoughtful, they went above and beyond to create an incredible experience and it was worth every cent. I do hope we come back one day soon.

Beyond Perfect

We recently stayed at the Sticky Rice Villas, while exploring the Adelaide Hills. They are 3 villas, all attached in a row just behind the cooking school, which is across the street from the freeway ( about 50 meters? ) and next to an electrical substation in a residential street.

They are almost 7 years old now, and one can imagine they must have been really nice in the first couple of years, but you can really see the age now in the surrounds & furnishings. I would think the internet photos were taken years ago, as they certainly do not look that "shiny" now! 

We found the interior super clean & tidy, but the courtyard and surrounding garden a little unkept and the outdoor furniture tired and it certainly did not look as though the exterior had been cleaned for a while. Also, several of the outside lights did not work. You can hear your "neighbours " in the adjoining villas too.

The furniture & soft cushions, etc were a little on the odorous side and could def use a good cleaning! The linens were also standard, no luxe feel or special touches, same with the motel style toiletries & kitchen items for sale ( Pringles, Arnotts Shapes, Tim Tams, etc)

Highlights were the in roof sound system and central air system, as well as the original architecture is really nice. Also, some of the original plantings are quite nice, just in need of TLC.

One can see the potential of these villas, if the owners upgraded the general presentation, but currently, it does feel a little under loved and tired.

For the price, I would look at other more recent accomodation in the Hills for sure. Also, the general freeway noise is quite off putting, especially throughout the night and early morning.

Motel style, highway side villas

After coming across the Sticky Rice Villas and cooking classes on google I decided  it would be the perfect location to propose to my partner who loves travel and cooking. I booked the Bali Villa and it felt just like we were in a 5 star Villa in Bali, it was simply stunning and very well equipped! It even surpassed the photos on their websites! Once you’re in the Villa you also can’t tell that there are any other Villa’s around, you feel completely secluded. We then did the Thai Feast cooking class and we learned to cook 4 amazing dishes. The class is very social as we worked in groups of 4 to prepare the dishes. We then had a big group dinner with the other class attendees, and there was more food and wine than we could all finish. While this was going on, the team at Sticky Rice had snuck into my room (as I requested) to set up rose petals in a “Will you marry me?” Quote on the bed, and when we got back to the room it was laid out even better than I imagined, they had even lit multiple candles to add to the atmosphere, it was just perfect! And she said yes of course! Thank you so much to the team at Sticky Rice, I couldn’t recommend them highly enough!

Ultimate weekend for engagement proposal

We spent a delightful 2 days at Sticky Rice Villas after a trip on The Ghan, The villa is divinely spacious and fabulously decorated. We chose Yoko, which has a Japanese theme. The highlight was the bath overlooking the garden with a beautiful statue, which when lit up at night, looks magical. The kitchen is very sophisticated and well equipped We were able to cook up a delicious dinner with our lunch left overs from our private cooking lesson earlier in the day. The cooking lesson was the best fun ever. Thank you to Yukiko for her brilliant cooking and menu. Claire the hostess is charming and incredibly hospitable. We loved our time at Sticky Rice!!!!

Loved......

Stayed there and had a private Vietnamese Cooking Lesson one night. Drove up and next to an electrical substation and near a major highway so was slightly disappointed initially. However the private villas were lovely, well equipped and really quiet and the owner is a hoot and so friendly and helpful. We had a lovely stay and Adelaide Hills is an amazing area. Cooking experience was excellent - certainly recommend it

Quirky Oriental Style Villas in an Oriental Cooking School

Five nights in this beautiful villa was a magic experience for us. It is private, has a massive chef's kitchen, comfortable lounge, beautiful big king sized bed, oversized shower, huge deep bath and beautiful views out to the garden. 
Add in the location - a short drive from Adelaide, amazing things to do/see/eat in close proximity, and walking distance to picturesque Stirling village and/or Crafers if a drink has been enjoyed with dinner.
Then add in the cooking school - we had a brilliant experience with Tania, delicious food, great wine and lots of interesting tips we can use back home.
All in all, a fabulous adult getaway. Highly recommend.

Beautiful, serene, private, comfortable, well located

We stayed in the Sticky Rice Villa "Bali" for one night after we took part in the Sticky Rice cooking session. The villa beautifully laid out, with decor that makes you feel like you are actually in Bali. They provided all the amenities we could possibly need, and even had a great selection of DVDs. Breakfast provisions were great for snacking and making food the next morning. Would happily stay here again for a getaway from Adelaide city.
