Our hosts were very welcoming. The accommodation is beautifully crafted out of recycled timbers and lovely stained glass in the door. Heating very adequate for a winter night. Bed was comfy and clean throughout. Breakfast was yummy with fresh baked bread and homemade jams. Plus eggs and bacon. Very peaceful with lovely outlook. Perfect overnight stay. Close enough to the 12 Apostles to do a return visit if the weather wasn’t good the previous day.

Peaceful and comfortable

After reading so many good reviews I was excited about this place and had high expectations. When we walked into the room I really thought this would be a nice stay, but I am afraid that it was well below what i had hoped. 

I will start with the positives: lovely property and lovely owner, the place is spacious, kitchen well equipped, and the bed is very large and super comfortable. there is a big TV with full foxtel subscription and a fast wifi, which is rare in this area.
On the negatives: disappointing breakfast, it seems like everyone else that wrote reviews had fresh bread in the morning, but all we had were what felt like an itemised 'as little as we can' breakfast, 4 slices of industrial sandwich bread wrapped in plastic in the fridge, bit of milk, couple of eggs and bacon, x amount of coffee capsule(sorry you cannot have more). we have stayed in lots of B&B in the past, and either you get a cooked breakfast, or at you get a hamper style breakfast that would be far superior to this one, and would not give us the feeling that the owner is going cheap on us making sure we dont waste anything by giving us the bare minimum.

Then the shower: zero pressure, impossible to set the right temperature. I understand that some property owners want to go eco-friendly and protect the environment, using rainwater as the main source etc etc... but when you are charging moderate to high prices per night you also need to maintain minimum standards. Having a decent shower is one of them.
there is no A/C, which on a hot day like ours, make it difficult to cool down at night.

Then the worst part. The place was filthy... dead bugs everywhere, disgusting. and when night time came it was an explosion of bugs, flying, crawling etc... I had 3 things crawling on me as I was lying in bed, making it honestly impossible to catch a good night's sleep. Again, I am not completely stupid and I do know what countryside is, and that you cannot avoid some sort of bug activity. fair enough. but this was next next level bad. why not start by cleaning the place properly every day to at least make sure there arent any dead stuff in literally every room, and if you know that your area is particularly at risk with insect/bugs/roaches, there are plenty of treatments available to minimise this.

it upsets me that i need to make these negatives comments as i really wished I had a better stay there, I believe the place has got this potential, but I need to be honest when i write reviews, and this was well below standards, even more with such a price tag. They go well overboard for some things like cable tv and stuff, which is awesome, but I reckon that before you do that you need to make sure that the most basic requirements like hygiene and a decent shower are met.

Disappointing

This is the best place you can stay for peace and quiet, a great night sleep and for a taste of country life! The owners are delightful and the service given was outstanding even baking fresh bread on your doorstep for morning breakfast! Cooking fresh bacon and eggs for breakfast was lovely. To see the stars at night was amazing especially considering the night pollution in Melbourne. Worth every cent of our visit! Thank you! 

Wonderful, Peaceful an Absolute Delight! 

A beautiful secluded retreat perfectly placed between Apollo Bay and Warrnambool. The owners Anne and Adrian were especially welcoming and hospitable, and the self-contained apartment was well appointed, excellently maintained, and full of lovely little touches. Things like a huge, soft wooden framed bed, to freshly baked bread out on your doorstop in the morning when you get up. Thoroughly recommended to anyone wanting a peaceful, quiet and authentic way to see this part of the world.

Perfect peaceful solitude 

We had a lovely bed and breakfast stay here whilst travelling along the Great Ocean Road. The house is beautifully presented and the owners are really friendly and take a genuine interest in their visitors. Would definitely stay again. 

Hidden gem 

The lodge is very quiet. At night you can hear something, at most a few animals. The apartment was very large and well equipped. In the living room there is a large TV with foxtel (similar to Sky/Premiere). WiFi is fast. The kitchen with gaskets is well equipped, ideal for cooking itself. Be careful: the next supermarket is about 20 minutes away. Either in Timboon or Port Campbell. You have to go shopping already on the way there, otherwise you drive the route again! Breakfast is in the fridge, fresh bread is put in front of the bedroom door in the morning. We had eggs, ham, milk, jurt, cereal, butter and marmalade. What you can do with it.

Let the soul roam in peace

We stayed one night, the owners, Anne and Adrián were lovely. Although we had a room reserved, they upgraded the apartment. As it was a bit cold, they turned on a heater so that when we arrived we would be warm. Breakfast was included so they left us in the fridge everything necessary to prepare it. The delicious jams and freshly baked bread were perfect, so we would have liked to have it prepared and enjoyed talking with the owners. If what you are looking for is a comfortable design hotel, it is not the place, but if you want a quiet, relaxed and comfortable place where you feel welcome this is the site. So if you are going with traditional GPS at the beginning of the road, leave the other 7 km to the house, you will certainly get there from Google.
