We stayed here for a couple of nights over new year while on a road trip.  Staying at the castle felt like a warm respite after nights of staying in different locations. And Irene's hospitality really made our stay so enjoyable and recharged us for the next leg of our journey. She treated us like family and went above and beyond what was nevessary. 
Some highlights: lovely room in great peaceful Italianate villa. Port and chocolate on arrival.  Excellent breakfast. Best ever massage arranged on site for us. Special hiking breakfast made up for our dawn hike.  Endless advice and great conversation.  Thank you Robert and Irene you are two of the best. xx

Such warm service it felt like we were staying with a favourite Aunty.

The magic began as soon as we pulled into the driveway and stayed with us well after our visit was over. My husband and I celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary in absolute style enveloped in the most inspiring atmosphere. We were greeted by the most gorgeous hostess Irene who made us welcome instantly. After Irene showed us through the magnificent castle and we settled into our amazing room we then met the one and only Robert Pope who we immediately clicked with as well. Complimentary drinks and nibbles in the courtyard followed by a memorable romantic dinner perfectly cooked by Irene.  We took our complimentary chocolates and port to our room to finish off our truly memorable day. Irene and Robert are exceptional people and I could not recommend visiting the Castle on the hill more highly. <3

Never to be forgotten

Loved it. Very well designed and built to give that feeling of a castle. View was wonderful as were the hosts. Afternoons at 5pm our  hosts serve snacks and wine and later at night port and chocolate. Very intelligent, warm and friendly.Irene is a pleasure and made a big impact on my partner. Rob is so knowledgeable but be prepared for non-stop dialogue on physics. A little wasted on me as my mind does not think in those terms, however Rob is friendly and keen to share his knowledge and experiences. 
Uki is my dream place and my first visit at the Castle on the Hill was memorable. 
The only down side I can think of is a power outage during the night; you have to sit near the window for a wifi signal and I was expecting the views on the website to be from our room window, but these didn't detract from our stay.

Serenity at its best

Checked in a 2pm, drinks and nibbles outside at sunset with an impromptu meeting with resident artist Robert Pope. Breakfast was tasty and social with some interesting conversation. If you are looking for alone time this probably isn't your B&B (it's a bit cozy and social) but if you are looking for interesting talks with an artist and philosopher and to make friends with other guests then this is the place. Amazing view of Mt Warning, comfortable bed, fascinating building with very warm and interesting hosts. I would definitely stay here again. Perfect location after climbing Mt Warning.

B&B with a twist

We attended an intimate concert at the Castle so we decided to stay the night too. So glad we stayed! 
"Lady's Chambers" is a small but amazingly decorated room with all the creature comforts. The bed was huge and very comfortable. Irene cooked an amazing breakfast and there were some very interesting people sharing the table with us. Irene and Robert were very helpful and understanding of our very active toddler. The house is amazing but the surrounding gardens even more so. 
Uki is a beautiful area in the Northern Rivers and The Castle on the Hill is a perfect base for exploring or to just relax close to nature in the grounds. 
Thank you Irene and Robert. We will be back.
