Despite there being very little to do in Mission Beach, not really worth a stop if its being considered when travelling up the east coast especially if you want to avoid getting eaten alive by midges, this hostel was very nice to stay in. It had a large kitchen which was clean and with plenty of cooking equipment, the movie room was great and very utilized as it rained the whole time we were there, it is a very short walk from the greyhound stop and there are activities to keep you busy such as a ping pong table on site. Also the staff are very helpful, with one guy taking us to see some sites around mission beach as well as to a supermarket as the one nearby to the hostel was closed that day. The rooms are nice, clean and spacious, although very far away from the bathrooms if you are upstairs which is a bit annoying in the middle of the night.

Really good service

I have to write this review because Mark was next level on customer service! Without thinking he helped me with my case upstairs, I also wanted to stay in my room past check out as my bus wasn’t leaving til 6pm and I really needed the rest - he put me on a lower rate which was very kind of him.

The hostel is very close to the bus stop but again without thinking, Mark offered to drive me to the bus stop as I have a heavy case. No other hostel have done any of these things so it really stood out. 

In addition to all this - the showers, kitchen and room were really clean. The Netflix room was really relaxing and there were only 3 of us in a 6 bed room. I think this was to spread people out and allow for as many people to get a bottom bunk as possible and have space - so they actually care about your comfort. Would happily stay again.

Amazing Service! ❤️

The rooms as well as bathroom facilities & kitchen were really clean. The staff was super friendly and they took us to see Wallabies and have a nice swim in the river. The location is great, it is close to the Greyhound bus station and Woolworths which was really comfortable. I would definitely recommend staying here when you‘re in Mission Beach! We made some good friends with the people staying there, too.

Amazing and chilled hostel

Myself and my partner, staying in Absolute Backpackers for two nights and it was amazing. The hostel is lovely with its open space, communal area and has great facilities (Showers are great which is a must for me).

The hostel manager Mark was a great host, dropping us out to mission beach/walking tracks which I would highly recommend.

On our second night, he hosted a BBQ which was delicious and brought us out to a really nice bar that has some great live entertainment. Mark himself also played a few tunes, and to be fair, the guy has talent.

Overall, our stay in this hostel was brilliant, and would definitely recommend anyone thinking of making mission beach a stopping point on their travels down the east coast.

If your stopping in Mission Beach, look no further.

We stayed in Absolute Backpackers over Christmas and loved our stay.
The staff is so friendly and does the absolute most to make you enjoy your time.
There are heaps of activities to do around mission or in the hostel, as well.
The kitchen is very clean and well equipped and the rooms have AC!
We would love to stay there again.

Perfect hostel!

The rooms are uncomfortable, but given the price, it is normal. However, what is not normal is that the floor of the room and especially the sheets are dirty (full of hair and hair), that the toilets and showers are also of more than dubious cleanliness, just like the rest of the common areas (including the kitchen). This place has given us the impression that we have been abandoned, that no further effort has been made. I do not recommend this accommodation to anyone!

Dirty and uncomfortable

The hostel is quite well located, close to shops and buses, not too far from the beach. Nice setting in a tropical garden. Quiet and friendly atmosphere. The rooms are small but tidy, the kitchen is functional and clean enough except for the freezers.

Quiet and friendly hostel

I found this charming backpacker, despite the cost, peace and quiet being the words and what my girlfriend and I were waiting for. Close to the beach and the supermarket. The staff and nice. You can stay in the corner as well as get together very easily. Not recommended if you want to party!

Backpacker for those who want peace

The hostel was very noisy. You could hear the ventilator in the adjacent room. People party in the garden without respect for the rest of the guests. The room is small and very hot. The room was disgusting, inside the bed there was hair. The bathrooms were dirty. At no point is it a recommended place. Very noisy hostel. The fan of the adjacent room was heard. Nothing is a recommended place.

Noisy and dirty.

Friendly staff when we arrived. But when we saw the room, we were hit with the blow! Smooth smell, mold on the ceiling and unclean beds and floors. Shower and toilets too, very unclean, although they were cleaned in the morning. We don't think this happens every day. Unfortunately, we arrived very late and then we took the third room feeling bad. We were very tired from the trip or we would have left again.
