The campsite is so remote you feel like you are alone with nature. We were lucky enough to have it to ourselves.
The facilities are fantastic and the property is stunning. We will be back! 
(I nearly didn't write this review because we want to keep this paradise a secret).


What a place!

Cottages are well equipped and comfortable. The scenery and environment just lovely and relaxing. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. My kids loved the animals- we were lucky enough to bottle feed a lamb, and were taken out to feed the cows, horses & alpaca. The games room was also a hit. Only a half hour drive into Lorne for those wanting to see the coast. We loved our stay and highly recommend King Parrot Cottages. 

Amazing and highly recommended 

We camped at King Parrot for 3 nights with our family of five. The camping area is a large clearing surrounded by beautiful rainforest with tall trees. Our kids absolutely loved the games room and feeding the horses and donkeys, as well as the waterfall walk with stream crossings. We can't wait to come back!

A wonderful camping experience

This beautiful property nestled in the Pennyroyal valley is truly the most wonderful place to stay. All the accomodation here is lovely with all the special touches you need on a forest escape. Summer is wonderful with a lovely pool to swim in overlooking a beautiful view - games room- 
Autumn is divine with sunny days and blue skies with cool and crisp mornings and often a lovely morning mist in the valley . Winter is great too with all the accommodations having heating a cosy wood fires it’s lovely to curl up and read . Spring is great and with the lovely walking tracks & if you have a four wheel drive head down to the camping area which is just lovely- almost like a secret place- the wildlife and birdsong and the magnificent sunset will amaze . 
I feel very fortunate to have found this piece of paradise over 10 years ago

A beautiful place to stay

We are just back from our weekend away staying at the beautiful King Parrot Cottages and really wanted to write a review on this magnificent property.  We have been travelling to King Parrot for almost 10 years for an annual family catch-up of approximately 14, aunties and cousins to relax, wine, dine, breathe in the beautiful fresh Otway air and take in the magnificent views across the Pennyroyal Valley. We have booked through three owners over the time we have visited and the current owners have made so many beautiful touches to make the stay and the property, just perfect.  We have rebooked for next year and counting down the days already.  We personally drive in and don't leave the property for our entire four days there, but we know that it is only about a 1/2 hour's drive to Lorne if we wanted.  The horses, alpacas, and sheep (some of which are named after the matriarchs of the family) are just gorgeous to catch up with. There is a games room (think we made it there one year once) swimming pool and amazing walks around the property but our choice is to just sit, take in the views and relax catching up on our beautiful family's latest news.
P.S This year we booked a masseuse to come to the property and six of us had lovely massages to make the trip even better.
Also, if driving from Melbourne be sure to stop at the Moriac General Store for a coffee and snack before you drive into Bliss.

Bliss in the middle of Pennyroyal valley

My husband and his sister, their parents and our collective families - children and grandchildren (four generations) spent our Christmas weekend at King Parrot. 

We stayed in Mannagum with our children and granddaughters (a toddler and a newborn) and could not have been more comfortable. Other family members were nearby in their own cottages. All were comfortable and clean, and each had been given a small touch of Christmas with rustic decorations and complimentary Fruit Cake. A scrumptious jam, T2 teas and a nicely chilled Pinot Grigio were also provided for us to enjoy.

Christmas Eve there was a very unexpected knock on the door where a polite young teen handed over a box of chocolates and wished us a Merry Christmas from King Parrot.

Our cottage was big enough to accomodate all of our 'gang' on Christmas Day, with the kitchen having everything we needed for 18 people, we simply brought the food. Some sat outside at the large table on the spacious deck and others found a seat at the 10 seater dining table, or elsewhere indoors. Loads of room. It was a fabulous way to spend Christmas in the bush.

The beautiful pool was a lovely escape from the heat and the Games Room provided much fun. The toddlers enjoyed the sand pit and toys, as well as petting the friendly donkeys. An abundance of birds kept us entertained whilst sitting on our deck, there truly is something for everyone.

We would love to return in the cooler months, to experience the environment in a different season and sit in front of that wood fire. Hopefully we can coordinate our growing family and all gather at King Parrot again.

Four Generations at Christmas

Our growing family stayed in the mannagum house, sleeps 11.  (3 kings, 5 singles) 
Cannot recommend this place enough, ever house,  is big and beautiful, with personal views. No close neighbours.  Love the king parrots, their favourite food was apples, which we hand feed them.  


Who's a pretty bird. 🦜🍎

I can highly recommend King Parrot Cottages if you are planning a yoga retreat! The nature around you is lush, the venue a beautiful designed & comfortable, great yoga shale where you can put up to 20 mats out, lots of activities around you can plan and..... AMAZING hosts! Nothing was too much I asked, prompt services & replies and Nicole & Maggie are absolute superstars! We will be back! Ps. Kitchen was recently renovated and our chef was absolutely happy with equipment!

Amazing venue for Yoga Retreats!

Great place, very clean, high quality accommodation. A rate property where you see attention to detail and provision of high quality tea (T2), coffee, local jam. High quality towels, comfortable bed. Property is easy to reach and right in the forest.

a great vacation

Highly recommend.
Great space, great feel and very clean. Amazing view outside of the cottage. 
Lots of activities on site for the kids.  
Beautiful area, lots of wildlife, nice local walks.
Will be coming back.
