Thank you room service for room 42 cleaning on the 18/1/24, for protecting valuables. I left my wallet, ID, cash and card out and everything was secure. Great job, cheers, Adrian Rebeiro

when we arrived on friday december 8th  According to the gentlement at the desk, there as still 1 room available because we had of c ourse made a booking.It was of course the most expensive 2 bedroom room! But we only had 1 double bed.  And I had to clean the mirror in the bathroom before I could get in myself to see.  When we left we saw that outside 1 room on that corridor the rest was still available. I think 329 aus dollars is a lot for what you get in return. And especially lying to the tourists! I think that's really terrible! We have already traveled to Australia for more than 12 times but we have never experienced anything like this.

Not a pleasant experience with Fitzroy Crossing Lodge

The place is not obvious, only a very small sign by the roadside, perhaps due to the construction work on the new bridge next door.  As a result the place was full of construction workers.  The staff were friendly.  The bar and restaurant were good.  The room was old fashioned, a bit musty, and the aircon needed servicing or replacing.  However, not sure there is anywhere better to stay in the area.

I have nothing positive to say about our stay here. From the confusion of finding the temporary entrance, we were directed to powered sites, we were 3 caravans travelling together, only to find that there was no power. So we all had to move and test the post for power until we found working ones. The amenities were a disgrace,  clearly they have not had a proper clean in some time. The washing machines had a weird smell. We chose not to use the facilities.  The construction goes 24/7, right next door to the park, so good luck getting any sleep. 
We paid top dollar to stay in the poorest run park we have experienced.  I am on my second lap around Oz and a free camp offers more than this place.
Floods are devastating.  I come from a flood ravaged region, and the recovery can be very slow, but there is no excuse for not  cleaning,  particularly when you are charging exorbitant prices. Also, a bit of communication would be nice. I phoned the Lodge days before  our arrival and was not given prior warning about the conditions.  
Don't stay here if you can avoid it. 

Just Terrible 

Given how famous this place has become over the years, especially given the issues with the next door bridge, we eagerly made haste to get here (as you cannot book camping/caravan sites). 
Our first annoyance was at the terribly small road signage outside to direct people into the temporary entry point. 
(Do they not know Google adds an hour detour to enter from the wrong side?) the bridge has been out since Jan - more would be better. 
The same inside, no signage to direct you to reception, as it’s all facing the wrong way. Enjoy the many trailer caravans trying to reverse down the hill! 
I know a lot of it was under water, but the quality of the site is poor with cow poo everywhere and horrid facilities in the loos and showers. 
We literally didn’t use them at all for fear of catching something. 

Considering its location and status, I expected more!
Finally, the diggers and construction work continues 24/7 regardless of who’s sleeping nearby. Enjoy!

Poor

We have stayed at the caravan park before, and we have fond memories of the green bays, immaculate facilities and friendly staff. Our last visit was 7 years ago, and, upon our arrival, we were shocked and dismayed at the deterioration of the grounds. It appears that there has been no maintainence since we were last here. The bays are generally unkempt, the toilet block has so much calcium build up on the floors and toilets that the only way they can be cleaned effectively now is with an acid wash. The benches are warped and split.  The irrigation system is so damaged that there are large swampy patches in the once lovely green areas, and the wallabies have reigned uncontrolled to such an extent that there are large, unfilled holes in the grassed area between the campgrounds and the  restaurant, which makes it dangerous to do the walk between the grounds and the restaurant at night. It is really sad to see a once great venue go downhill so badly. It is hard to see what the caretaker and groundsmen do to earn their keep; their time certainly isn't spent doing any maintenance.

The only thing that hasn't changed for the worse is the friendliness of the staff, and the quality of the food.

A Disappointing Experience

Dated accommodation. Used to come here frequently as part of kimberley healthcare visits. The rooms have definitely deteriorated and is in need for an upgrade. The aircon was not cold. They blamed the weather but we stayed in other places just as hot without any issues. 

Overall, a disappointing stay considering how good it was years ago.

Having read previous posts our expectations were not high, however room was compact but clean and comfortable once the A/C got going!
Dinner in the bistro was excellent. Chefs special of beef vindaloo for me and stuffed capsicums for the child bride hit the spot.
Ideal for a one night stay on a road trip!


Clean and comfortable 

I previously booked a room through email but due to my husband admitted to Hospital icu on our travels we unfortunately had to cancel further travel I rang and spoke to office 2 weeks prior to our booking to cancel. Un be known they processed the cost of room on date of proposed arrival.  I rang Lodge then was handed to manger who advised she would waiver and not charge.  3 weeks on money not credited to my account again on phone they informed me their policy no refunds but to give me a credit this is their policy. I can not find this on their website but to be informed firstly a refund would be granted then now to be told no only credit.  Beware

Dishonest

Fine for a one night stay, beds were comfortable. The pool was a bit fresh, but it was winter. We were part of a bus tour, so I am not sure if it is value for money. The reception staff were friendly and helpful.
