Would recommend this beautiful place to anyone, loved  the atmosphere of the place, the heritage, breakfast was amazing and well organized, easy to get any where in town driving,  hope to stay longer next time .

Great place

We stayed for one night and will definitely use this place again when we come to Burnie again. It's close to the centre of Burnie, but in a quiet location. The rooms are large and well appointed. We were very comfortable. Any time we return to Burnie, we will plan to stay there.

Beautiful House and good value

Quaint old spacious property with fittings that aren’t old enough to be interesting but are old enough to appear dated. It’s run remotely as the owners live some way away and it is operated by a series of notes and monitored by cctv.  As we were expecting a B&B set-up this gives the place a Mary Celeste feel about it ie we saw and met no-one else so it might be a wanabee Airb&b? The room was OK with a shower room built into the corner.  Everything worked fine and we did eventually find the kettle hidden behind the tv and the fresh milk, chocs and drinks in the fridge were very welcome, especially the fresh coffee and cafetière. One big bugbear, the wifi is very intermittent and you have to continually log back in which is infuriating and we tried several devices, but they were all the same.  Spend some money on buying some reliable wifi connections please, even in an old building there is room for highspeed wifi and current set-up is totally unacceptable. 
Apart from the wifi, the one thing that really got me was a reprinted article in the Welcome Folder that the owners had placed there, telling us, the guests, to rate a review 5 stars or similar.  This is my guest review and I never rate anything 5 stars unless they are exceptional and whilst you were really good, you’re not exceptional. Wifi, the lack of human contact and the cctv which depersonalises the place, gives you a 4 star rating from me.

Definitely value for money

Great building in a beautiful quiet area. My wife and I stayed in the Lily room. Far exceeded expectations. Very quiet and comfortable with everything you need.
Breakfast was lovely and really enjoyed it.
Only sorry it was a 1 night stay not longer (next time).

Fantastic Place

The DNW is a lovely restored house from the late 19th century. Our breakfast included price was minimal. The building is now in great condition and our room faced north to view across the water. There are 4 rooms on the top floor of the house with more accommodation in separate buildings. Parking was free and easy to complete. The breakfast was very good and we enjoyed it in the ground floor dining room using the lovely period furniture. It is an hour to Stanley and a possible launch point to Cradle Mountain or Strahan.

Vintage heritage.

This property offered old fashioned elegance and charm at its best.Hosts went above normal requirements e.g offering meet & greet over a port or wine, complimentary Tanzanian cheese & crackers, beer & cider in our room fridge. Elegant touches with cut Rose's from the garden in our large sized "Iris"room.The booked self cooked breakfast was plentiful & varied.Loved our stay in this grand old lady.

Iris Room

Amazing accommodation, beautiful historic house, restored to a high standard with grand high ceilings, and separate restored stables, which is where we stayed. The dining room is where you can have one of the most generous breakfasts we have experienced. Gardens were filled with all types of flowers and being set on the hill lovely views can be enjoyed from the main house balcony. Check-in is a breeze and the on-site staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Would love to have stayed longer than the 2 days we had.

The best stay ever!!!!

Stayed for 2 nights, the room was seperate from the house in the old stable.
Beautiful decorated, very clean, spacious and it was lovely to find crackers and Tasmanian cheese and beer and cider in the fridge.
Had the breakfast basket which was more than enough and I love that there was plunger coffee in the room.
Definitely will stay there again if ever back in Burnie.

Fantastic

The property was amazing. Beautiful elegant home from the late 1800’s, lovingly restored and maintained, set high on the hill with gardens surrounding it and a view of the city below. A private car park with plenty of room. The bed was comfortable, the furnishings mostly antiques, the bathroom modern. Breakfast supplies were left for guests in baskets in the formal dining room refrigerator. This included cereal, milk bread, yogurt, juice and eggs you could boil yourself, if desired. Coffee plungers and coffee provided in addition to tea making supplies. The owners made an effort to provide written information about area activities and restaurants in the room as well as a large selection of DVD’s stored in the shared sitting room. Numbers were left for a manager if there were any problems or emergencies. However, we never saw another soul there for the two days and nights we stayed there. No staff, no other guests. The house and room keys were left in a basket outside for us before our arrival and we left them there on leaving. I guess it is all about expectations. We had booked assuming it was a traditional B&B. However, it is now really an AirB&B. (I believe it is now also being marketed that way.) But we booked last January based on Trip Advisor’s description and (I now realize) older reviews on Trip Advisor and Booking.com written before this change. As an AirB&B it was exceptional. Way above normal expectations. As a traditional B&B, we missed the warmth of hosts who live on-site. 

Excellent AirB&B

Beautiful historic house with period furniture and spacious rooms.  We stayed in Iris, which was a wonderful, comfortable,well equipped and beautifully decorated room.  Location is very good for visiting sights around Bernie.  Breakfast is ample, and supplied as a basket in refrigerator.  You use what you’d like from your basket.  Different from most B@Bs but it was fine. Very nice place and I would recommend!  Wish we’d had a few more days here!!
