So glad a friend recommended this property, it ticked every box. Stayed for five days with my daughter and our two horses, wish we could have stayed longer. The cottage was super comfortable, spotless and had everything we needed including a stunning view with Port Fairy in the background. The location was excellent, being a short drive from Warrnambool, Koroit and Port Fairy and the facilities for the horses met all our needs and then some. Sonja and her family, (and pets) provided a warm welcome and wonderful service throughout our stay. If you are looking for a quiet getaway, with or without your own horses, in a peaceful location with excellent views I can strongly recommend High View Cottages. 

Perfect getaway

The weather was quite bad when we travelled so we didnt have much chance to interact with our hosts. There is something special about being in a cozy comfy place while bad weather rages around. We were warm and well provisioned and when the weather broke and the sun came out we found so many nice places to explore quite close by wonderful beaches and trails. If you stayed here with your horses it would be terrific. 

Cozy Cottage Great views

We stayed in the number 2 cottage for 3 nights and couldn't be happier with our stay. The cottage was spotless, the heating was very good and the quietness was blissful. The hamper for the first breakfast was well put together. and a lot of other extras add to making our stay very pleasant.  We would not look for any other accommodation in Warrnambool,  we would just book in to Highview.

Great Accomodation

I booked this place through Bookings.com.  My mistake, I see now that Tripadvisor has pictures of both accommodations, not just the good one.
IN short they have two levels of accommodation.  The better units are on top of the hill, newer and with an outlook over a lake.  The budget is next to the horse stables, pushing 70 years old and show it. 
The room did not match the pictures they advertised to room to be. (completely different room)
The accommodation was extremely old, like an old school building.
Extremely poorly maintained.  
Stinks, and that's not including the smell from the horse stables about 50 metres away.
EXTREMELY DIRTY even though it was cleaned not 30 minutes before we arrived. (see pics)
Furniture dirty and stained. (see pics) 
Stove rusty. (see pics)
Crockery was older than I am. (see pics)
Beds were too small and my wife ended up sleeping on the lounge as she didn't fit in the double bed of the master bedroom.
Bathroom was dirty. Shower was so small could barely fit inside.
Apparently the pictures on the internet are of the luxury cabins, but the site did not say this so I thought I was getting what was advertised. (compare my pics to that which they have on the internet)
I DO NOT RECOMMEND FOR ANYONE TO STAY HERE as they appear to promise one things but deliver something completely different.

HORRIBLE.  Not as advertised

We booked two adjoining lodges (budget) for 3 families altogether 6 adults and 5 kids for 2 nights. As we booked both loges we didn't get any outside neighbours' issues like sound, noises but  it could possibly happen if you book a single lodge. 

The lodges are equipped with kitchenette, laundry etc. However rooms need good heaters during winter season.
 
Cottages have nicer view than lodges, so mindful when you are selecting. 

Ample space to run around for kids and farm animals and domestic dog Charlie is very friendly and entertaining.

As a family run business owners are helpful and friendly.

Good for travelers who seek experience of tranquillity of rural life.

Lovely Location

there are 2 cottages set right on top of the property. Each has 2 bedrooms and are very comfortable. The view is lovely and it is very quiet and restful.High View  Cottages are about 8 kls out of Warnambool. So lots to see and do.

Lovely location

If you are looking for very quiet surrounds with sweeping views across to the sea combined with a roomy cottage which is clean and comfortable then the High View Family Cottages are for you. 
I enjoyed a three night stay there during early April, the cottage I stayed in (No 1) had everything I needed to rest, relax and self-cater. A continental breakfast is provided for the first mornings breakfast which I thought was a nice touch. The cooking facilities included an electric oven with hot plates as well as a micro wave oven. The fridge was full size, there were ample kitchen utensils, pots and pans. The bedrooms are a good size and I found the queen size bed in the main bedroom very comfortable. The bathroom is also a good size 
The flat screen TV was accompanied with a DVD player.
Finding the cottages was easy as the turn off the main highway west of Warrnambool is well marked and the property is also well sign posted. 
While staying at the Cottages make sure you visit Tower Hill, just to the west of Warrnambool and very close to where the cottages are located. Tower Hill is one of the most fascinating geological formations in Victoria. It has an important place in local Aboriginal history and it teems with wildlife (including Koloa Bears). Tower Hill is an enormous volcanic crater rimmed by beds of volcanic ash. Well worth a visit and a good place to have a picnic lunch (no fees apply).

Roomy Cottages offering sweeping views and very quite - ideal place to relax

It's easy to find a place to stay, especially during the daytime. You enter the farm, turn left after the first cottage, then right (on the indicator) and again right (until you get to the new building). To your left is a cage with rabbits and a horse cage. On the lodge will be written which apartments you have. The owners are very friendly and will probably always be happy to ask you. Don't be afraid to ask them about the area: they will tell you everything about how to get there.
