Anyone dreaming of a Kangaroo Island getaway that is affordable, comfortable, friendly and has balcony views of American River will love this place. The personal and convivial welcome from owners Peter and Faye ushers a relaxed and cosy atmosphere in the well appointed cabins. With full kitchen facilities, private car port, and BBQ at your disposal, why not settle in to your own home cooked meal? Unless of course, the walk of  a few metres to the famous Black Cockatoo Restaurant, conveniently located next door, doesn't entice you for an evening away from kitchen duties, with their fresh local produce including delicious Kangaroo Island wines.

Cooinda Holiday Village doesn't pretend to be anything that it actually is. Clean, affordable and most welcoming accommodation with a view to die for.
Our 2-bedroom unit contained everything we needed, in the kitchen, bathroom and living areas, for the three of us.
The deck provides ample opportunity to sit outside and enjoy a wonderful view of the cove, including the oyster leases, especially in the evening as the deck faces east, and is protected in shade from the hot, summer western sun.
Fay and Peter, our hosts ... You will not find more welcoming, genuine people.
Our unit was exceptionally clean and secure, with undercover parking for the car to boot.
The décor is not Versace, but we weren't looking for that. We wanted clean, secure and comfortable accommodation and we certainly weren't disappointed.

You get more than you can see ...

Peter and his wife were very nice and welcoming. Good views off the decks. Not the most modern but very nice and comfortable units. A very nice and relaxing place to stay. Would highly recommend staying here.

Very nice place

This motel is situated with  aview over the sea. The place is not new but things function and there is everything you need. The owner is extremely helpful. We received a bottle of really good wine when we arrived. There are walks in the neighbourhood with a lot of different birds.

Excellent location and elpful owner

Accommodation was fine for what we needed. A bit dated, but everything was clean and tidy. Nice view of the ocean. Peter and Faye were brilliant hosts and more than happy to help out with any queries we had, also gave some great suggestions. Only downside is not a lot of food options in American River, The Deck was about the only lunch option and there were limited dinner options. Best to have a car to get around! Great place to stay, would highly recommend, particularly for the friendly service!

Friendly service!

We stayed at this great place for 3 nights and used it as a base for our stay on Kangaroo Island.  Super clean and affordable it is run by the very friendly Peter and Faye who can recommend a range of things to do and see while you are there. We are a family of 5 and loved our time there.  American River is a really good place to base yourself and Peter and Faye are great hosts!
