I booked back 2 months before our intended stay during Mid July. We are from SA and we had planned a 2-week holiday. This was before the NSW COVID outbreak. All other places we booked had absolutely no issue with cancelling and refunding. The vendor is ignoring the ACCC guidelines under Exceptional Circumstances to offer a refund. We are still fighting through credit card disputes. I encourage those in this thread who have experienced this to do the same. I am truly astonished at the belligerence and incompassion by the Agents (Sinclairs). I had given notice just less than 4 weeks, enough time for Sinclairs to re-advertise; however, they refused. This is appaling service and I am spending a lot of time now to win over my card dispute. I will be shortly filing against ACCC if no success.

Terrible service, had to cancel our trip due to COVID lockdown. Asked for a refund and was refused. Left us completely out of pocket even though there was no physical way we could make the booking date. The dates which were offered were well out of the ski season and even now we would still be unable to make it. Disgusting to refer to us as losers when asking for a refund. It is totally unreasonable that they were unable to provide a refund. DO NOT BOOK HERE!

Money Hungry

This company refused to move my booking or refund any money already paid (unable to travel there due to Covid lockdown). They even asked me to pay the remainder of my balance knowing fully well I was unable to travel to Jindabyne.

No service provided

I'm only writing this review as Aalberg emailed me this morning and asked me to review my stay....but I didn't stay.

The whole of NSW has a Covid lockdown order so I couldn't stay.

When it became apparent that I wouldn't be able to go, I rang and emailed (2 addresses) them to discuss if there were any options re credit notes or refunds. No response. I did the same when they sent me their, 'see you in 3 days email'. No response.

I booked 8 trips to the snow this year with a range of accommodation providers and everyone was great. Some gave me refunds, others credits whilst others couldn't do anything as they were hanging on by their financial finger tips.

Aalberg were the only people who failed to respond to any emails or answer and phone calls.

And when it appeared very unlikely that I wouldn't be able to make it they took the final payment. I didn't think that was cool.

I understand that everyone suffers through a covid lockdown. But these guys would have a significant decrease in costs  - heating, food, water, staff etc. I don't think it's cool to have your customers take all the pain.....or at least not even have the guts to discuss it.

Lack of Communication in a Difficult Time Reflects Badly on these guys

Aalberg Chalet was faultless! Our room was clean, warm and Exactly what we needed after several days on the slopes. coming back to the lovely hosts was just delightful, brekky was yum too. We will be back as soon as we can and feel so lucky to have stayed at Aalberg!

Second time I've stayed here - stayed for three nights this trip. Cosy, Warm, close to shops, parking is easy, rooms are clean and showers are piping hot! What more could you need? Breakfast is included and is a great fuel up every morning too,.

Always a winner

From the moment we arrived we felt like we had arrived at a friends house. Tour of the property , taken to our room and shown all the facilities. The room is basic but clean. Bed is warm and comfortable.Loved the communal lounge and fire and an evening drink . Hosts very welcoming. Great breakfast . Good value . Will stay again.

Welcoming palce to stay

The owners service and attitude was excellent and helpful (even though the breakfast service was restricted because of Covid). The location in Jindabyne was good - the external amenities you needed to drive to, but given it was a snow weekend it was not an issue, as I had a car. The only extra I would have liked would have been a bath - hot bath after a long day skiing would have been a nice extra

Great place, easy location and really good friendly service

The Aalbrg is a very friendly place with a good vibe. They are taking COVID precautions at reception and breakfast which was great

Our room was big, with a modern bathroom and the big shower was great after snowboarding all day. It also had a bar fridge and microwave, and the heating was excellent. The room wasn't serviced during the day but that was a good thing for covid.

My double bed was two singles together as you often find, but unfortunately one side was super firm and the other really soft with a ridge in the middle so I really struggled to sleep. 

The breakfast was served with only a few people at a time which was great for social distancing. I didn't try the pre-cooked options (bacon, eggs, baked beans, pancakes, hash browns) from their buffet. The toast and coffee that I did have were both not great. We chose not to go back for brekky on day 2.

All of the staff we came across were very friendly and welcoming.

Great friendly service

Stayed for one night on the way to Perisher. We received a warm welcome and the kids got special attention which was nice. We had a double and a bunk bed room which was clean and perfect for our stay. The COVID rules were followed to the letter which can create complications with timing the guests for breakfast. No longer can the lodges do the buffet service instead they are required to serve you which means breakfasts need to be staggered. Visitors need to make sure they are aware of this and confirm their breakfast time in advance. With a bit of communication it all works well.
