If you need to escape the hustle and bustle of your daily lives this is just the spot  Quiet, peaceful and restful . The only noise was the birds singing 
The cottage was spacious, clean , and comfortable. Huge shower area 
 Spa bath.  Well  Stocked self catering kitchen 
Ample parking room 
Plenty of waterholes to cool off in the creek that runs all year round.I enjoyed all the walks around the property 
The hosts are helpful and responsive but not invasive. Highly recommend

Bird lovers paradise

Sweetwater Lodge has two 5-star well-separated "cabins" 200mtrs apart and a gypsy caravan (pictured first). There is no other accomodation within 2kms, so this is an isolated couples retreat.  We went in 2022 and were desperate to return to this Daintree paradise with amazing birdlife and an adjacent private 500+ acre rainforest. There is a small river running through the property and a gorgeous BBQ area alongside the river (see pics). Sweetwater "cabins" were upgraded in 2023 with aircon and excellent internet, so now is truly 5-star. Each cabin is totally private with excellent views of the surrounding forest and mountains. Each is equipped with a superb shower and spa bath,  large loungeroom with a  huge bed and gorgeous view, and an excellent outdoor patio with full cooking facilities and Weber BBQ. 5-star linen and pillows as expected. We will be back in 2024-  this really is a paradise retreat for couples seeking rest and tranquility.   The nearby Julatten pub was fully renovated in June 2023 and is totally superb.

Stunning couples paradise retreat in the Daintree rainforest

Absolutely beautiful place to stay in a gorgeous part of the world. We spent 6 glorious nights there. We saw lots of birds around the property and even more on our day out with Doug Herrington, bird guide, organised by Wendy. If you enjoy birds and nature, you will love this place. We'll be back. 

Peace, beauty, nature and birds 

What a wonderful place this is and so pleased we stayed here rather than in Port Douglas. So tranquil and private. Comfortable bed, best shower ever and  a kitchen that made cooking preferable to going out. Birds, trees,walks and what lovely hosts Glen and Wendy are… anyone that plants so many trees for the benefit of wildlife have to be fabulous. Quite the best stay we have had the fortune of experiencing.

Stay at Sweetwater lodge

We stayed 3 nights and loved it all. As a birdo, the surrounding forest was amazingly active and full of exotic birdlife. Beautifully appointed lodge with high-quality amentities and toiletries, with a great spa bath and very comfy king bed with superb views across your private half-acre garden. There is a gorgeous private river with well-appointed BBQ gazebo next to clear freshwater pools, plus private forest walks. Being high on the escarpment behind the Daintree range, the evenings fortunately cool down rapidly, since the lodge has fans but no a/c for cooling. The only downside is no internet and free-to-air TV is limited- use DVDs instead on the large screen TV.  Relax and enjoy- we did and would come back. Wendy is a great and generous host.

Beautiful Property to stay at when exploring the Port Douglas area. We stayed for 6 nights in one of the Lodges. Saw the resident Platypus a couple of times and explored the Rainforest and Waterholes on the property. We also explored the Daintree and Port Douglas area from here. Wendy and Glenn are excellent hosts, always just a txt message away, if needed, and very knowledgeable about the area. Highly recommended. 

Beautiful stay at Sweetwater Lodge 

Without a doubt, one of the best stays in the region ( really, one of the best anywhere )
The lodge is beautifully designed and appointed, with the highest quality original bespoke furnishings, extremely comfortable king bed, quality linen. 
The wonderful shower space is 4sqm, along with large well appointed bathroom with views.
The undercover kitchen on the deck has everything you need for self catering including a baby webber, hot plates, all utensils, crockery, glasses, even a sharp cooking knife ( a big plus ).

One feels like being one is in the wilderness, the stunning mountain views, beautiful trees all round, with plenty of well maintained open spaces around the lodge. The tranquil platypus mountain water creek with natural rock pool was divine to swim in, even in July. 

Waking up to the sounds of singing birds at sunrise was absolutely memorable. 

Highly suggest book Sweetwater as part of your Cairns/Port Douglas trip. Far North Queensland is not just about the water and the reef. The tablelands are beautiful to visit.

Being only 25 Minutes from PD, you will be a world away in nature. Tip - stay at least 2/3 nights, to soak up nature, swimming ( with a bush hut cooking area ), the walks and the relaxing lodge. (Mt Molley Pub 10min away)

In every sense, a very unique stay that I suggest should be part our everyones "eco-experience" when travelling to FNQ.

Superb stay.

We loved staying in this peaceful beautiful location. Hosts were extremely helpful ensuring we had all we needed and organizing a great birding tour for us. The lodge was spotlessly clean and well appointed and outside kitchen was fun. We would definitely stay here again. Heather & Peter

Delightful accommodation

We stayed 4 nights in one of the 2 lodges and feel like we’ve been on holidays for weeks. So peaceful and beautiful around the cabin, and everything you could want inside. Very comfortable bed, lovely bathroom, al fresco kitchen very cleverly designed for eating surrounded by the bush. We drove down to Davies creek road (1 hour) to do the kahlpahlim rock circuit hike for one day, lovely drive and excellent slightly challenging walk which took a us just over 5 hours.
Wendy and Glenn were fabulously attentive hosts, checking in on us early, lending us a birding book and available for all our needs.
We were thrilled to spot the blue faced parrot finch on several occasions around the lodge, plus many other wonderful birds.

Blissful serene escape

We had 5 nights here. There are 2 self contained cabins with alfresco kitchen and open air shower and a Glamping Gypsy Wagon.  We stayed in a cabin with breakfast included. This included a daily delivery pf a fresh fruit platter every evening. The bed was very comfortable and the cabins had lots of thoughtful touches. There was a good selection of pantry basics supplied including olive oil, balsamic, salt and pepper and plain flour, coffee plunger and a variety of teas. The kitchen is outside  on the sheltered deck and has a cooktop, microwave oven and small gas weber barbeque.  
The property is about 5 mins outside of Mt Molloy which has a nice pub with beer garden serving basic pub meals.   Nearest groceries are Mareeba or Port Douglas.
We had a package that included a full day birdwatching. There were multitudes of birds around the lodge including blue faced parrrot finches, red browed finches, lovely fairy wrens, red backed fairy wrensl, various honey eatera fig birds,  kookaburras,  kingfishers all viewed from our deck.  There is a waterhole on the property suitable for a quick (chilly) dip that is apparently occupied by a platypus though we weren't fortunate enough to see it. There is a hut by the water hole with tables and chairs, perfect for sundowners.  There is also a rainforest walk up a gentle slope to a small weir. The walk follows and crosses a burbling creek.

Wendy and Glenn were welcoming with lots of good advice about local attractions. 

Was very sad to leave as it was a truly beautiful, relaxing stay .
