Magnificent views, great miniature donkeys, and wonderful helpful people and great chickens. So peaceful, so comfortable and warm a great pk]lace to stay. We booked online via Stayz and Helen could not have been more helpful when we arrived. Studio apartment was so comfortable. 

A great place to stay

Exceptional accomodation . It was a real delight to walk into such a beautifully appointed little cottage with a log fire going . Such a relaxing break . The views form the windows are beautiful and the grounds a pleasure to walk through . The bed was comfortable and we had an excellent nights sleep . Wish we had booked a longer stay .

Absolutely gorgeous .

So glad we chose Herons Rise for our 3 nights in Kettering. Its in a wonderful location from which to explore southern Tasmania or for a day trip to Bruny Island. We visited at the end of August - a perfect time to go as the wattle was in bloom, there were daffodils, jonquils and other bulbs flowering everywhere, pink and white blossom trees and new born spring lambs in many of the fields and paddocks. So pretty! We were fortunate to have cool, sunny days. The nights were very cold but the Studio with its wood fire was toasty warm, beautifully furnished with everything we might need and very comfortable. We loved its position past the vineyard and our miniature donkey neighbours. Helen, our host was friendly, generous and so helpful with advice on places to eat and visit. We particularly liked The Conservatory in Cygnet for lunch after a pretty drive along the coast, dinner at the Oyster Cove Inn and our visit to the Raptor Refuge. Breakfast was great with eggs from the chickens but if you want some bacon to go with them, there's a great IGA at Snug if you're on your way from Hobart with just about anything you may need. I really hope we manage to go back for another stay.

A wonderful stay!

Beautiful accommodation. Hosts were very gracious in allowing us to cancel with full refund in 2021 at very short notice due to Covid. We rebooked for 2022 and we’re delighted that we did.  All communications were friendly, prompt and helpful. Great jumping off point for a day trip to Bruny Island. Would be happy to stay again if we return to Tasmania.

Serenity in Kettering

From the time we booked this property until we arrived and during our visit the communication with Helen ,the manage was exemplary.It’s about half an hour from the Hobart CBD and a few minutes to the Bruny Island Ferry.Most things in southern Tassie can be reached from here.We stayed in the “Studio “.There is not enough space to list the positives.If you find any negatives you would not be happy anywhere.There is a great living area with a dining table ,a small adequate kitchen the up one step to tell extremely comfortable bed and bathroom.It’s warm ,cosy and homey.A wood fire tops it off.It is also very private from the rest of the property.We have had some amazing stays in many countries,but none compare to this.If you want clean ,comfortable and private book here ,and if you are not satisfied you will never be satisfied

This is number one,number two is a long way back

We stayed in the Wine Loft and found it to be well-presented and great value for money.  All the extra touches Helen provided made it a standout experience within our Tasmanian holiday.  Highly recommended for anyone visiting the Huon Valley.

Great accommodation and host

“The Wine Loft” is a beautifully presented and well provisioned home away from home. Close to the marina at Kettering and an easy way to head over for a day visiting Bruny Island. Stunning views and relaxing, private atmosphere. Fantastic! 

Great Location - Awesome Accomodation!

A beautifully secluded setting just one kilometre from the highway. Easy to find and a good all weather access road up to, and through the property. Lovely views ranging from mountain, rural, and channel vistas. Communication with your host is excellent, and starts before your intended arrival date. The property has two accommodation options, a one bedroom cottage, and a two bedroom loft over a seperate barn. We  stayed in the studio cottage. It’s set at the furthest point inside the property, surrounded on one side by lawn and fruit trees, and the other by lawn and native trees overlooking pastures with cattle and sheep. You pass the vineyard and main house on the way in. Helen will meet you at the clock tower for check in, then meet you at the cottage to show you through and answer any questions regarding your stay. You are free to stroll around the acreage, just remember to leave all gates as you find them. The two donkeys will be friendly and love pats. A highlight is at twilight, when native animal enter the garden and go about feeding just outside the large windows. No need for the tv. The cottage has everything you need for a most comfortable and enjoyable stay. I suggest a late check out, as the morning with the sun streaming in is the best time to enjoy the view. I will definitely be coming back again. 

Welcoming And Cosy

Stayed for 1 week. Helen, the host was extremely welcoming and had lots of great suggestions for places to visit which we would not have known about without her vast local knowledge. The Studio Cottage was really cosy and warm. Helen had started the wood fired heater before we arrived which was a great start to our stay. They have lots of animals on the farm including cows, donkeys, chickens and ducks. We got to hand feed the cows in the afternoons, which was a new experience for us. Overall a beautiful place to stay and unwind yet close enough to enjoy everything south Tassie has to offer.

Amazing Tassie farm getaway 

We had a perfect one night stay here and so wished we could have stayed longer.  The two bedroom barn was beautiful, well appointed and furnished and Helen was a wonderful hostess.  She even invited us to help feed the animals and had the fire roaring when we arrived on a wet cold December afternoon.  It was the perfect place to relax and there were supplies available to buy if required to cook a meal.  Definitely recommend!!
