We were taking our friends on a four holiday to relax & enjoy together.  The experience was embarrassing, my friend spent most of her time cleaning! This room has not had a proper clean for a very, very long time- all surfaces had sticky, dirty grime over them. Glass tables were  smeared with dirt, grime & fingerprints, underneath & on top. Bedside lamps were broken, curtains hanging off the rods. Kitchen cupboards haven’t been wiped out in years, minimal crockery/cutlery, a dangerous broken drinking glass on the shelf, pots & pans with burnt & peeling Teflon coatings, baking dishes with old baked on burnt residue. grey towels, 1 tea towel for 4 days which we had to use as a cleaning cloth! Carpets were unvacuumed and stained.  Lifts were grubby as well!
Obviously there are no room & contents checks  completed between guest stays but they are super quick to get their payment up front before your stay!
The best part of the stay was observing the migrating  whales off the coast and they came for free!

Extremely disappointing experience!

Unit 10 although very roomy smelt like dogs lived in the room, it was an awful smell. Complained to the person on reception who was disinterested. I have taken photos of the dirt on the furniture, smears on microwave, fridge, mirrors etc. Went to coles and purchased cleaning products to clean floors and bring the standard to a liveable condition. Doona in the main bedroom also smelt like dogs. Drawers were dirty, some pillows in cupboard were old and yellow/stained, some pillowslips had not been washed. Broken furniture in 3rd bedroom cupboards. Floors not vacuumed and outside area, which was a lovely large area was extremely dirty. The surrounding gardens were lovely as was the outside atmosphere. Would not recommend staying in this Unit 10 which is a large 3 bedroom unit with a lot of potential if it was looked after and cleaned.

Poor Cleanliness Unit 10 - Staff uninterested

We booked unit 76 at the resort, which was a three bedroom apartment for 4 people travelling to play golf.   There had been a mix up with the booking and my friend had clarified with the resort that the booking was for four people.  On arrival the male person at reception was extremely aggressive when we explained we had been in email contact with the resort over the number of people checking in.  He initially wanted to charge us extra but did back down when he reviewed the emails. 

The room was dated but ok, however the outdoor furniture was unusable as it was broken.  There was barely enough crockery for the four of us.  The bed in the main bedroom was as hard as a rock while the second double bed is definitely in need of a new mattress. 
To top things off, there was no wifi or streaming TV.

All in all I wouldn’t recommend this property.

Just horrible experience

Have been to this resort with my family for our annual Christmas holiday for some years.  Always had a great time and enjoyed beautiful, well-kept accomodation.  For our last trip (Jan 2021) there was a new manager and the resort was noticeably different.  The new manager is perpetually annoyed and not very helpful, the room was dirty and the washing machine was full of mould.  The last straw is that i discovered faeces in the pool.  when i brought this to the manager's attention he was annoyed at me and did nothing until i basically threatened to lodge a complaint with the council.  there were people still swimming in the pool for hours before he responded.  Crying shame because we love it there and the kids always have a great time.

A disappointing stay

My friend booked this unit as our friend is terminally ill and wanting to take him away with all of these reviews she thought it would be lovely. Only the best rooms are on their website, I guess its luck of the draw. The room we had stunk, no blankets, bugs In the bed! LITERALLY. We wanted to leave but were told that we couldn't get a refund until we said we will right a review on how you treat customers at this point she was basically saying its our fault,  then waiting for refund on monday days after the fact (but when she said it would be in) then Wednesday still  no return, not answering calls, getting staff to lie to us then eventually when she answer I demanded a receipt she had just done it, but the money is on hold so she still hasn't completed transferred I am waiting on $438 to hit me account. when I finally got hold of her MANAGERS response was "you live on the Gold Coast, what are you going to do, you won't drive here" Mind blown completely. That one star is for location, even that wasn't worth the disrespect we got shown.

DISGUSTING CUSTOMER SERVICE/ LIARS

This resort is amazing for families or couples wanting to have an amazing stay with all amenities to suit your needs. There is a swimming pool with spa, a sauna, gym, half size basketball court and tennis court. Above all direct access to the beautiful beach with no travel or parking required. The staff are fantastic on site and happy to help when needed. The self contained apartments are spacious and homely. Highly recommended if staying at the Sunshine Coast, super close to the airport too.

We arrived to find clean, friendly well maintained holiday resort! 5/5.
Our unit was very clean however oven didn’t work, security screen did not lock and kitchen light was very low and flickered the whole time. En-suite had broken - no soap holder in shower and unit only had air con in main living area- glad it was not too hot and still during our 6 night stay.
Overall great location with varied food options a short stroll and Coles shopping only a 2-3 min drive away!
Beaches are beautiful, clean, and white!

Christmas holiday

I stayed 3 nights at this beautiful place. I have a one bedroom apartment and it was clean and well set up. The staff are very welcoming and friendly and helped if we needed anything. The restaurant downs stairs is desperate but their food was amazing too could not fault the food at all. It was an amazing stay and would love to take my family back there one day.

What a place to stay!

I had booked into this resort two months prior through bookings.com and paid 50% deposit.  We got the keys to apartment and as we opened the door it smelt like sewerage.  I called reception staff and they come straight up to the apartment.  I was told they had just recently had a plumbing problem in this apartment.  I told them i would like to move, but they said they were full and they wouldn't be able to move us.  The staff member then went about putting some smelly substance down all the drains in the apartment and thought this would do the trick, cause as she mentioned that had worked last time.  I told her i wasn't happy with this situation and we would like to be moved and once again told they couldn't do this due to no rooms available.  She then tried to negotiate a 5% discount (which was around $20 discount). I was absolutely insulted and told her that was ridiculous!  She said she would have to call the owner and get back to me.  
She called the next day to see if the smell was still there, i said it was and she said she hadn't contacted the owner yet, as she wanted to make sure there was still a problem first.  Great customer service!
It is now the following weekend and I have not heard anything from Marcoola Beach Resort in regards to compensation or any sort or an apology.  Such a shame as the location is great, but the resort is run down.
I have also read reviews on bookings.com  that state the same situation over last couple of months, with complaints about the sewerage smell.

Terrible Smell and Customer Service

Stayed in a 3 bedroom garden view apartment no 10. Great spot . Opposite BBQ and tennis court . Older style apartment with older furnishings but adequate for us . Great pool area and walking distance to local shops . Beach short stroll away.
